We also have a manager who played an entire Euro-based XI in the World Cup and called up more European-based players per camp than Jurgen Klinsmann.

Feelings over fact though, right?

85% of this board (no clue what side you were on) was jeering over Greg’s situation when he was let go and defending Reyna and his place in the team.

Now we rehired the same guy we scapegoated for the WC, and yes he was scapegoated by the majority on this board and fans elsewhere from my experience experience, and any questioning of decisions from players to personnel is off limits??

Is the next stage just outright ignoring reality???

Once again, it’s the same for every western hemisphere country. We just so happen to be in shitty arse CONCACAF that schedules back to back tournaments the summer after a World Cup. Argentina would look pretty shitty if they just called in a a bunch of dudes who never left Argentina. You refuse to acknowledge that point.

I will sleep easy and in comfort knowing I do not delusionally back MLS or the talents of its players.

Yet you keep harping on the USMNT calling up Roldan and he didn't play at all.

You can't have it both ways.

The fact that this is your takeaway from what is happening in this thread is alarming.

Although, clearly, you're trolling.

I recommend checking out the list of home club grown Argentinian players compared to the list of home grown Americans over the last 20 years.

Well considering there really was no such thing as a homegrown US player until 6-7 years ago...

Those dudes who never left Argentina are way better than our dudes who won’t leave MLS

Hope to see this thread still rolling in the morning

This is a solid list, but it’s hardly world class. A lot of those guys were reserves last year or played for relegated teams.

If we were churning out talent like you all are suggesting, our C team wouldn’t get outplayed by Panama. Our squad is very thin.

If you just want to field a respectable national team, that’s fine. But if we want to get to a contending level, which should be expectation given the massive advantages the US has, I think we’ll need a strong domestic league.

My argument is that the older guys still in MLS aren’t good. I’m not backing those guys. I’m just not an idiot and I can see that their academies are working very well for how new they are.

Your argument was also that this is a bad look for US soccer, it wasn’t about MLS. I don’t agree with who they called in but they probably figured they could call in a veteran roster and just back their way into another final and it almost worked. I would rather go experimental and get young guys caps. It by no means is a referendum on our national team’s talent pool

No fricking shite. MLS academies aren’t even old enough to get their first period.

Are you under the impression that the majority of this team would be called up to the A-team if our best guys have a huge rash of injuries heading into the Copa America next year?

If so, I legit feel sorry for you.

Sounds like the direct fault of the US Federation and MLS.

It could be any other ones who got called

Y’all are saying all our second level dudes are in Europe. But what 9 MLS players were on the WC squad

Dudes who are considered stars in our domestic league
