Roldan

Another one who should have never sniffed the national team

These dudes are not international level players

They stay home don’t worry about their starting place and never deal with a challenge or risk taking a chance at higher level

And it’s still rewarded

Welcome to the soccer board.

Every time something bad happens, it becomes a referendum on how our youth ate too many orange slices in their cushy suburbans driven by their hot moms.

Context be damned.

I get this take, but losing to Panama and struggling against CONCACAF teams is the same old USA.

Have we progressed at all over the last decade? I would say no and have almost certainly regressed as a nation in regards to regional dominance and overall success.

I love that SCH just miraculously showed up after the loss and is already on his MLS shite.

I don’t think you can say this tournament doesn’t matter to us without shitting on MLS.

Jesus, Long, Vazquez, Robinson, Yedlin, Sands, even Morris are all-star players in MLS.

I don't think you understand, if it's not Roldan on this roster, it was just going to be some other MLS scrub for this C-team.

I am 100%.

The fact that most of the collective are once again cool with squandering our best generation/cycle of talent on a has been loser that got fired and then didn’t and then hired and then isn’t even coaching this gold cup but is in charge is patently absurd.

what in the actual frick?

Only one of these guys was voted as an All Star this year.

I mean if this is the quality of player our league is putting out that decided to not go abroad

The league has a a long way to do with talent development on a larger scale to actually improve as a league

Having the Nations League and Gold Cup in the same year is hilarious.

doesn't it run from basically the start of the NFL season until essentially the end of the NBA season... August to late-May almost non-stop

What exactly did we squander?

If this was Pulisic and the like playing, then yeah, I'd be pissed and scared for what the future holds. But we had starting midfield of an MLS guy, an Eredivise guy and a Serie B guy who wasn't even the best American midfielder on his own club team in Italy.

This tournament meant nothing. And no, I'm not saying that because we lost, been saying it from the beginning.

This is a weird melt after our A team just got finished dog walking CONCACAF. There are maybe 4 guys who have a shot at the World Cup roster who just played. Maybe 2 starters. Take a deep breath.

We’ve won the last two Nations League trophies. We qualified for the World Cup easily. So yeah, I’d say we’re better than where we were a decade ago.

Imagine measuring the talent of our team by MLS all star selections.

Celebrating the smartest kid with Down syndrome.

If that’s the best we can send to nationally televised and meaningful matches in terms of FIFA rankings I’m a complete moron for ever caring.

I think the broader point is why the hell are we wasting games on has been Dan Mullen losers like Morris.

There’s really not a better super young option out there to give games on the big stage?

Anywhere? Jordan Morris is it, at 28 years of age and 20% body fat?

Man this is just depressing. Not that we lost but that the next time this team plays a match Berhalter will be coaching again. I was hoping to enjoy one more match without him (no 3rd place match in Gold Cup?)

No shite, it's not even 30 years old and it just got its own academies.

If you don't see the good that is coming from those, I don't know what to tell you. We are producing a shite ton of good talent already through those that a lot of them are getting scooped up by Europe before they even get to MLS. That's all that matters.

We're fine.

Starts roughly the first weekend of August and ended just a few weeks ago

Because all of the good backups to our regular starters are set to begin preseason in Europe in hopes of earning a real role with those teams.

Someone has to fill out the roster for the Gold Cup.
