I have an appointment tomorrow to get TSA Pre Check. How long post appointment will I take before I am able to use it. I am traveling in two and a half weeks.

Once you've done the appointment you should be given your known travel number. You will then have to enter that number into whatever frequent flyer account you're using to fly in a couple of weeks. You should then get TSA pre on your boarding pass to use on that flight.

When I did it a few months ago for my kid who turned 18 it took about two weeks to get her number. We shared her SSN which you don't have to do, but it supposedly speeds it up.

my recommendation would be to simply upgrade to global entry as it comes with TSA pre-check

You get a KTN (known traveler number)

When I renewed mine back in January, I had the approval within 24 hours.

Hope you’re not going to the Laplace office. The beast working there…you get the point, not trying to get banned

Just a heads up if this is your first time using your TSA pre-check number, make sure it is uploaded to your airline account before checking into your flight. If not, they will have to "un-check" you in and it is a mess. And if you're flying Southwest, you lose whatever boarding number you had and it's back of the line. We dad it happened to someone we were flying with.

Agree with the global entry upgrade. I'm doing that next time I have to renew.

Just did it. It took about three days after the appointment. We got it by email.

Not sure where you are located, but we made an appointment at an off-airport place in Kenner and it couldn't have been smoother.

Mine took about 3-4 days after my appointment to show up. Buddy of mine did it and it took his several weeks. He's ex-military so not sure if that opened up more avenues for them to verify and take longer.
