Thy name is "The Rant".

I expected 4 losses this year. When Les kicked RP off the team, there was a thread asking how many losses we should expect this year, to which I replied "4"

This is not me wanting a pat on the back, it is more of a call to realistic expectations.

Anyone who saw us winning the west with a true freshman QB and a few others that should be career back-ups were deluded.

Outrageous expectations with no basis in reality lead to meltdowns like we are experiencing now.

LSU will beat Arky, then we will prepare to pwn our bowl opponent.

Things are going to get better as JJ gets more reps, and a new DC is brought in to right the ship.

A little overdue, eh?

i expected 1 or 2

and i did not expect to get blown out twice (UF, OM), handled once (UGA), and struggle to beat crappy teams (AU, Troy, MSU, USC)

did you?

We may very well get loss #5 on Friday

I don't think beating Ole Miss, and improving as the year moves on is Outrageous.

I do think you ARE trying to pat yourself on the back, and not very successfully.

arky is a team who is in more of a rebuilding mode than LSU is, and i believe they'll have a true frosh QB

no excuse to lose that game, but i think we will

I expected a couple blow-outs. . .although I figured it would be UF and UGA.

no biggie.

I actually DID expect us to struggle with every team on our schedule.

We can certainly win the game, but having a true freshman at QB with very little game experience kind of evens things out at Arky- not to mention our defense is just not good and our OL couldn't block at defense full of midgets.

I really don't feel all that good about this game. I hope I am wrong and I do think JJ will play well...

why? there was nothing in the preseason to indicate any blowout possibilities outside of UF

how? we're, at worst, top 10 in talent

AU has no talent
MSU has no talent
USC has severe flaws
Troy is rebuilding and a non-BCS team

no excuse. we have more talent than any team not named UGA or UF on our schedule

Les Miles called a timeout on a play that stopped the clock a year or so ago...that was all I needed to see

isn't arky likely to start a true freshman QB?

arky also has offensive talent built for a run-run-run offense, which isn't petrino's offense

arky's isn't anything special

they've had 2 bad games (ole miss, UF) and most of the others were great games

Only objection I have is the note that Jarrett Lee would be a career backup. I don't think that's the case at all -- yes, he's had a mediocre redshirt freshman year, but I bet Brett Favre or Tom Brady struggles in this situation: You're expecting to be the second-team quarterback and the guy in front of you gets all the reps he needs to start; then, out of nowhere, he gets himself kicked off the team, and now, you've got to hurry up and learn the offense two years quicker than you were expecting.

Just watch.

...If nothing else, the pick-six streak was shattered. Maybe next week the interception streak will break, and by the bowl game, the touchdown drought rain out.

I expected 4 losses too, but I also expected this team to be lead by the defense while the offense tried to get it together. What has really happened is that our mediocre offense has been forced to try to outscore teams, which is never going to work.

I never had any faith in the prospects of Co-DC's.

I figured we were gonna get lit up a few times.

Brand new corners, a true freshman QB that is a season away from being ready.

What I did not expect was our O-Line to get handled like it has.

Talent, Talent, Talent- Geeeeez, if I here that crap one more time.

Talent does NOT necessarily win games. If the "talent" does not have any team chemistry- you will lose games. Yes, we do have a ton of talent at some positions, and at others we do not.

Bottom line is our "talent" was pretty much blown up on both sides of the ball yesterday. All the talent in the world would not have mattered yesterday. This has to do with playing good fundamental football on both sides of the ball- and "talent" alone cannot make that happen.

2 games only really

but our offensive playcalling has been conservative as hell lately and it's easy for teams to just load up the LOS. they know what's coming. you can stop the run by using more guys than the O can block

Dude we got handled by Ole Miss at home.

I've never been one to fly off the handle, but this is what does it for me. It's not just the losses. It's the combination of things that have happened this year, from the defensive scheme to the lack of team unity. It's concerning, and it's not overreacting at this point.

fricking Ole Miss.
