The Sphere at The Venetian Resort is a spherical music and entertainment arena near the Las Vegas Strip (east of the Venetian resort). Seats 18,600 on 18 acres at a cost of $2.3B. Measures 366 ft high and 516 ft wide. Boasts the world's largest and highest-resolution (16K) wraparound LED screen measuring 160,000 sq ft. The audio will consist of an infrasound haptic system and features 164,000 speakers which can deliver sound through the floor boards. 4D features such as scent and wind will also be used. The exterior exosphere is made of LED light panels covering 580,000 sq ft of programmable lighting and will be 30 percent taller than the dome.

There is already concern that some artists have already refused to play in it
Something tells me this is gonna be a colossal bust
But at least people can look at it

I hate when the digital billboards go mostly white and I'm driving by them. I can't imagine the blinding distraction this sphere will be.

That thing is pretty damn impressive!
I can only imagine the number of cracked out meth heads and people high as frick on mushrooms standing around that thing, staring at it for hours on end.

Why are artists refusing to play in that thing?

They are required to develop a comprehensive video for the performance to play across the inside of the Sphere. The Sphere wants any performance to be immersive and make full use of their tech capabilities.

So the artist just aren’t ready yet.
Nobody would turn that down.

Phish's light show is going to be epic when they eventually play there.

Ready for that Tool residency! It wouldn't take much to transform their big video show into the sphere I'm sure.

How long before someone hacks it to turn it into a giant boob?

So, it's just a massive theatre NOT an arena?
I was wondering about that. It's fascinating.
More Board Topic Police goofiness. The OP wasn't really a "travel" post in any regard really.
