Thank you Scott.

Johnson: 2 seasons in SEC, 1 national championship.

O'Sullivan, Bianco, Vitello: 45 seasons in SEC, 2 national championships.

When Jay was hired I didn't know if he would work out due to him being a West Coast guy all of his career prior to LSU. Proved me wrong, :)

Thank god Woodward whiffed on Casey, Sully, Bianco, McDonnell, Vitello. LSU might of ended up with a no named Johnson.

Edit: 75 idiots not realizing this is sarcasm. You people

Obviously the coaches he brought in have won and done well. But does the rant think he is some kind of zen master of coaching hires? Not trying to flame or be a dick but weren’t all three hires proven commodities and were just hired on to a university with more funds, better facilities and fertile recruiting grounds. And we are shocked that produced positive dividends? It’s not like he found and unproven coach that came to LSU and then became the goat like Saban for example. I mean he gave his boy jimbo all the money and how is that working out.

The best part is: He's 46, and loves it here. It would shock me to see Jay leave LSU for any other job, we're in for some good times.

O'Sullivan

I believe he was the first choice. That timely release of information by UF was to keep him there. Sully has done a great job, like him or not.

Paul said a west coast friend recommended Jay when he retired. Paul passed the name on to Woody.

O'Sullivan would have won big here but man it would be hard to pull for such a douche head coach

There’s zero chance Bianca was going to be the guy especially with all the fan backlash

Don't forget about this boards favorite guy, McDonnell. 73-45-1. Lost in the supers last year and didn't come close to making the tournament this year.

Paul had a hand in getting Scott off a couple of coaches.

O'Sullivan would have been a good hire. Not sure how good of a hire Bianco would have been but I would not have liked the Vitello hire. With the way he approaches the game you can only tolerate so much if he isn't winning.

Jay was and is the best hire we could have gotten. We are in a great spot for years to come with him in charge.

Scott, as he should, vetted a lot of candidates.

From what I've heard, the final 3 on his wish list were Johnson, O'Sullivan, and McDonnell. McDonnell was a non-starter, didn't want to uproot his family and politely declined even a conversation. O'Sullivan had some bad press, not sure how far or well the conversations went. Johnson was aggressively interested in LSU (mutually) and had the best pitch to Scott about what he'd do to win.

That's an amalgamation of a few different stories I heard from the BRCC water cooler. All 3 would've done very well here, but glad we got Jay.
