Today I am trying to bust up some 3000# chunks of concrete with a 80 # jackhammer. What a job. Fun though. Gives me exercise.

One of the worst things about aging is losing strength. Don’t have what I use to and it is aggravating

Have any of y’all busted up concrete using a jackhammer? I think I’m going to go get a mini excavator with a jackhammer tomorrow. Although most youngsters can’t keep up with me I wish I could find one.

Need to go get another case of Heineken. Gonna sneak though the fields on the four wheeler so.I don’t have to go on the highway. Hopefully this rain passes soon so I can. go back at it.

I think I’m going to takeArmymann50’s advice and go get my heart checked out. Even though I haven’t had any chest pains i n a while.

Why didn’t you rent a Honduran to do this?

What kind of commie shite is this? It's the 4th of July. You should be barbecuing and drinking bud light.

Yep when I was in my early 20's. Now at 46, I'm still shaking from it. But I enjoyed it. I like real work like that. Chainsaws, sledgehammers, large tools!.

I’m in no shape to use a jackhammer.
I did it 15 years ago while renovating our house and knew that I wasn’t man enough.

A few years ago I was with a volunteer group doing work on a house and we needed to demo some old concrete steps. I got in the jackhammer for about 10 minutes and was done.

The concrete had rebar all in it and it was a bitch. We had to use sledgehammers and a blade saw in addition to the jackhammer

Just let the hammer do the work.
Not that hard.

Props to you. My neighbors have two teenage sons and pay someone to mow their grass.

Sounds like you’ve got some issues that you need to work through.

Pro tip: Do NOT lean or press down on the jack hammer. Your job is just to balance the jack hammer. Let it do the work.

As you age it’s very important to strength train. You should lift weights a few times a week.

Years ago when I was about 22, I was working for Texaco Oil and a storm came through and damaged many tank batteries. We had to take jackhammers and break up the remaining concrete. Since the tank batteries were about 10 feet above the water, we had to tie off the jackhammer, because once it busted through the concrete, the jackhammer wanted to fall into the water. It felt like my wrists were sprained afterwards.

I’ve done a shitload of it. It isn’t that bad. Crack it along a few points. Lift it up with a front-end loader and drop it and it’ll break along where you jackhammered.

Do the plaque check thing on the ticket. About $150 out of pocket and it shows any and all blockages from what I’m told.

Getting old sucks but beats the alternative. I’m still benching 250 for 8 reps on my last set but when I was a young bull that number was 380.

My elbows and shoulders can’t handle the weight like they used to.

Last time was in my 20s. Did both and electric and a compressor package driven.

Hardest part was getting the break started and then you just broke off pieces on the edge.

Being 48 I would imagine it will kill me if I did it again

But will likely find out this fall. House we bought has a few sections of side walk I need to replace……

I still try to do that kind of work myself when I can, but I pay for it for several days after
