New analysis of the long-term impact from Section 301 tariffs triggered by President Trump against China, shows just how consequential economic nationalism can become.

For the previous twenty years, food prices had been increasingly controlled by Big Ag, and not by normal supply and demand. The commodity market became a ‘controlled market’. U.S. food outputs (farm production) was controlled and exported to keep the U.S. consumer paying optimal prices.

Multinational corporations Big Pharma, Food, Energy, Banking, manipulate the markets to increase their profit at the expense of Americans. Trump wants to MAGA, he isn't interested in multinational corporations increasing profits, he doesn't need their grift which is exactly why they hate him so much. The uniparty on both sides. The sell outs whose greed has warped their honor.

President Trump’s trade reset was disrupting this process. As farm products were less exported, the cost of the food in our supermarket became reconnected to a ‘more normal’ supply and demand cycle. Food prices dropped, and our pantry costs were lowered.

They will continue to be, because for the most part Americans are too lazy to do anything about it, like buy direct from grower produce and meats.

"EWG’s analysis of records from the Department of Agriculture finds that subsidy payments to farmers ballooned from just over $4 billion in 2017 to more than $20 billion in 2020".

There was less food exports. The tax payers paid for it through subsidies to farmers.

It's amazing hearing "conservatives" celebrating Trump tax increases and protectionism. Soon we'll hear how unions are good because well we need to watch out for those 'mericans. And then right after denounce communism/socialism.

fwiw I approved the China tariff. I recognize some of the downfalls of it but I do believe those to be short term for long term benefits.

That probably is the one good thing he did. Not sure where it came from, because he doesn't seem like the kind of guy to actually get the big picture of what the country needs. Maybe it was a Bannon policy that he forgot about?

In any respect, they need to punish companies for shipping production overseas. We need crucial domestic production as not only a form of economic stimulus, but national security.

I stopped answering them.

Some people see.

Some people see when shown.

Some refuse to see, even when shown.

The vehemently anti-Trump camp generally is the latter.
