Why don't republicans focus on making college and health care cheaper for everyone

Instead of free, why not focus on lowering the cost. No school should cost over 10 k a year for anyone, and hospitals shouldn't bankrupt anyone. Dems only talk about making shite free because they know it's not going to pass and don't actually have any plans on helping anyone, and they don't have to actually answer to there voters about it, they can just say"well we tried to help y'all but those mean old republicans stopped us". Republicans are missing a golden opportunity here, whether the nominee be trump or desantis, what they should be saying is"hey we get it shite is too expensive right now, while we can't make things free, I'ma do everything in my power to lower the cost". Colleges have become lefist strongholds due to over funding, I doubt they want to give any funds up, I imagine a lot of hospitals are the same way, republicans should threaten to cut funding if they don't make things for the people cheaper, I really feel like this could be a path to republicans winning in a blowout, and taking funding away from leftist strongholds

Free market forces dictate a fair price.

So the gov't should tell businesses how much they can charge for a service?

Because Democrats are 100% responsible for the federal take over of the student loan system. Why don't you ask Democrats to work with Republicans to get government out of the student loan business?

Who are you to set prices for someone else? You don't think someone should have the right to operate a high end school?
Do you believe there should be salary caps as well in private sector? "No CEO should be able to make more than $200,000 per year" or something like that?

The reason college and hospitals are expensive has nothing to with free market, has everything to do with college and hospital administrators raising there own pay

Democrat Barbara Boxer getting owned by bank CEO's during a hearing on student loan Debt. Go to the 1:41 mark. This is from over 4 years ago

Interesting to note, not related to medical field per se but Florida new tort reform no longer allows gross medical bills be presented to a jury. Used to be made up numbers by plaintiff doctors like $150,000 for neck surgery.
Now, they can only put up what insurance actually paid or, if no insurance, 200% of Medicare. In the above case it's about $20,000. It will reduce jury verdicts that should help lower costs

Outlaw government-backed student loans and school would get cheaper overnight. I suspect that isn’t what you had in mind.

You can go to college very affordably, for way less than 10K per year. It may not be where you want, but that's the cost of choice.
Virtually every citizen in Louisiana lives within driving distance of a 2- or 4-year state college. Most of the college expenses are for room/board.
That said, they "did" something. And that something made them more expensive, not less.

There isn't really a free market though with the current model. Federal backing of student loans send prices through the roof.
Make the schools be on the hook for students loans/payments and their academic progress.

All for it, as long as they eliminate every course that currently has “studies” as part of the title

b/c they wouldn't offset the loss by charging higher for their services?
