Wife and I just got back. I am all for the little guy making it, but this place is not very good.
We stated off with BBQ shrimp. A little pricey for 12.50. Small shrimp with what seems like KFC BBQ sauce on them. Not great.
I had what was suppose to be 2 (8 oz) pork chops. Well all they had was 1 probably 10oz. It was decent. I believe it was 16.00. Also came with garlic mashed pot. and I got waffle fries. The sides were ok.
The biggest disappointment was my wife's dish. She had blackened redfish w/ etoufee. There is no way that that is fresh fish. Every bite was fishy tasting. One bite she actually had to spit it into her napkin. The crawfish were tiny and terrible as well, and the dish overall was extremely salty.
I was really looking foward to this place, however, I don't see how it is going to make it with such subpar food. I wish I had better things to say.

I hope you informed the manager on duty of your problem or at least would consider writing a letter to the owner.
It is fine to write up a bad review, but you need to let the powers that be know so they might can fix it.

It is still a shame that areas like Gonzales and Denham Springs find it so hard to have good restaurants.
Don's in Denham stays packed. Average food at its finest on display.

Sorry to hear that.

BTW, if you are a Ascensionite is Sno's still good? Before I moved to BR I used to have to come here frequently on business, Sno's was always a treat.

I tried On the Half Shell for lunch one day, it was pretty good, for poboys anyway.

I actually didn't want to embarass them. There was only us and one other couple in there. I really feel bad for them as I have heard from another poster that the guy is great and has really put his heart into the place.

gutta-the best thing you could do for him is provide that feedback. The death of a small business is customers not getting what they expected and just staying away instead of helping them improve and giving them another chance. Call back, now that you have had time to reflect on the experience and talk to the manager/owner. Promise he will greatly appreciate it.

He posts on here, and he's gonna read this soon if he hasn't already.

I don't know what to suggest. The service was good. The food was not.

I've been trying to convince Gugich to open a Dempsey's in Prairieville for at least a year now.

the mobil station that's in the same center as on the half shell, makes some really good lunches.

i passed yesterday and it was shut down. Its a really bad location for a restaurant. You can take a big name chef and put him in there and its going to be the same old result no business.

How can you tell?

The parking lot was pretty empty on Saturday and the place looked dark due to it being in the corner, but they were open.

I also went by around 6:00 and there wasn't a car in the parking lot. I guess it better to get out sooner rather than later.

its still too late cause you empty so much time and money into the place you just soon stay open and pray it makes it. only 10 out of 100 restaurants is going to make it this year that's a fact
