TIL about horse diving

These performances had a rider that would jump off a 40-60 ft platform. The crazy thing is that none of the horses that did the shows ever got hurt or injured. Giving the stunt a better safety record than horse racing. Deep down Americans just have a thirst to be entertained.

They also used to crash trains into each other for entertainment.
Ah…simpler times.

They should really bring back gladiator matches. Make it as politically incorrect as possible, and make it as violent as possible to show the Gen Z TikTok fairies what our primal instincts are as humans.

So did the horses actually dive or did they just trap-door the things and they fell into the pool?

The most serious injury in the show’s history happened to Sonora Webster. In 1931, during a dive, her horse dove into the tank off-balance, causing her to hit the water face first. Sonora failed to close her eyes quickly enough, resulting in detached retinas that left her sightless.

Safer for the horse than Churchill Downs

Dang I didn't realize that Wild Hearts can't be Broken movie was based on a true story.

A lot of that has to do with the horses themselves… just like at Santa Anita a few years ago. It’s easier just to blame the surface to the public.

It's the breeding and the drugs.

It is still one of my favorite movies and one of few I own on amazon.

I think it was his last movie before he quit.
