Older Runners (50+) - when did you pack it in

I just turned 50 this year. Love running, have done over a dozen marathons and 3 full Ironmans throughout the years (given it was back in my late 30’s/early 40’s).
For those older guys out there that used to run, at what point did you finally pack it in? My body just does t seem like it can take running anymore, especially anything over 3 miles.
That being said, I’m having a damn tough time letting it go and admitting that Father Time has won.

Doesn’t Fauci still run? You’re weaker than him?

Stretch, stretch, stretch.
Cut mileage back and stretch. 10k about as far as I go these days.

I packed it in in my late 30s. Ironman and countless tris, multiple marathons all done in my 20s and early 30s. I started seeing an increase in running related injuries and decided to hang it up. Now, I am mostly peloton, weights, and plyometric exercises.
Threw out most of medals and made a blanket out of select race t-shirts

I’m 42 and starting to feel the toll. started running when I was 13.
I enjoy the stress relief and endorphin rush, but I’ve cut back to 3 runs a week. Now I mostly lift.

My dad is about to turn 70 and still runs. Doesn’t do anything competitive but still will get 2-3 miles in daily.

I stopped running when I stopped training (used to run 10 miles a day in grade country).
Now I stroll, I have adopted the "Paulie" approach

Yeah I can still do it and enjoy it per se. but the enjoyment is short lived as the body pain starts making me enjoy it a lot less.
I do have a bike, actually two. I think I’ve resigned myself to just take up biking. Maybe shoot for a century ride or something next year.
On one hand it kicks me in the nuts, but then I also have to just be thankful that I can do anything at the age of 50 as there are others either no longer here or have conditions where they can’t even walk

I understand. I am 55 and love running. I've been running long distance since 11 years old, and track before that. Don't want to give it up, but I've had a succession of injuries over the last 15 years that knock me out for 3-6 months at a time. To get back to running, I have to commit to a lot of physical therapy and strength building of different muscles. Then I get a glorious 3 months or so of great running before I get injured again. I swim, cycle and walk when I can't run; but its not the same.

Do some sprints baw. Do 30 seconds of sprints. Rest 1 min. Do 30 seconds, rest 1 min. Repeat until exhausted. Then try to work your way up to 10 reps.
