The origin of STTDB

It could have started in 04, but I'm thinking it was 05. My brother, buddy's future wife (no pics) and I were sitting behind a frat section when a drunk frat guy with long hair said, "STTD."
His frat brothers were like boo this man and told him to shut up. I told him we would say it with him next time, but we have to add the "B" on the end. The four of us said "STTDB." His frat brothers only watched and didn't say anything.
The fact that we, the three strangers, joined their drunk bro signaled that it was an acceptable chant. More and more frat bros joined us everytime the band played Neck. It spread to the whole student section and eventually the stadium.
I know this is a subtle brag on the first post, but it's a part of LSU Sports history that fans may want to know. I created this account to post an image of McLovin for cocaine cowboy in the WF bullpen last night, but the admins big leagued me on the activation.

Feel like it started the national championship year in 2003, but got really widespread after that.
Once the students got it going after a season or two the whole stadium participated, not sure when the crack down began.

You're a legend in your own mind. I don't believe you.

I mean it started somewhere, who knows if your frat guy heard it already or not. Honey Badger nickname got started on this site by MikeLB, legend. And the Mikey Shunick case got solved because of this site as well. I'm sure there are others, but I wouldn't be surprised if it started here and people just started catching on

Yeah, thanks man.

Yes, it was your entire family who started STTDB. You get all the credit

A ton of people are gonna claim it started way back in their time but I was literally sitting in the student section as it was happening and it was at least after 2008.
And it started as just STTD. The B came later. And it wasnt that popular at first.
I’m thinking 2010 is right cause I had at least 2 full years of just actually singing “talkin out the side a ya neck” under my belt at the time.
I’ll add that as an old guy now, I don’t trust anyone who was not in school at a time know what year anything happens. If you don’t have a “I was in ___ grade” to fall back on you are fricked in terms of year placement.

A couple frat pussies didn’t start that chant

I know I am an old fart, but I think the fans were better back in the day when they didn’t have to resort to vulgarities. We cheered loud, long, and with relative class. STTDB is an embarrassment.

First home game of 2009, everyone was singing “talking out the side of your neck, bitch”.
Next game I went to was 2011 vs Tennessee and everyone sang STTDB.
So somewhere between there

So you ruined Neck.
Congrats?

I remember STTDNick vividly. I think it evolved from there.

I can confirm it was 04 towards the later part of the season. I didn’t think it would carryovers through to the following year but it did. And I can completely believe it was you and a frat dude. I was near the origin and can remember saying and others giving me a smile.
It was not kosher to say it in 04.

I don’t remember Neck being played until 07. And it was a few years later that STTDB was added
