A number of federal and other state agencies were hit. As well as other companies.
Maybe it was a low bid but a lot of entities accepted the low bid then

My identity was stolen from the Texas unemployment system years ago. Everything is frozen. It makes it a bitch to get credit/loans, but it keeps me safe financially. I did not freeze it at first and someone purchased 600 worth of tools and used my ID to get a Paypal account. It has not kept them from getting rentals and jobs with my ID. Social Security is supposed to give you a new social when this occurs. ( you can move your credit to new number). The local branch refused to help me in BR with my request for a new number with evidence my ID was stolen, and proof of numerous people using it. I guess for a state employee from Louisiana, it was just too much work to help a fellow man. I hope they get some payback with this hack. We need to do something, having socials that are used for everything does not work any longer.

The OMV is run by a bunch of fat, lazy, incompetent bitches. Short story long. A friend of mine moved to Ms. He kept his La. drivers license because he was back and forth from La. to Ms. He called his local insurance company here in La. to tell him to mail his stuff to Ms. The company said that since the move they cannot insure him in Ms. So he gets insurance from the same company but in Ms. He comes to La. and buys a truck while he's at OMV he renews his drivers license. Well they red flag his arse for no insurance and to renew his license it will cost over 300.00 because La. says he has no insurance, but he did. Goes and testifies at the capitol because the Rep here said that was some bullshite and lets tell the gov't how fricked up it is. He never dropped his ins., and has the decs to prove it. The sorry arse OMV people say, well will get your money back from the re-instatement fees since you have had ins. the whole time. It's been over 6 months and they have skirted him ever since.

Wait. You think a Louisiana state employee can issue you a new SSN?
Also, why did you create a female alter? Kinda weird.

I agree we suck, but are you from Georgia? I’d not talk if so

My advice to EVERYONE is to go to all of the 3 credit agencies websites and put a lock on your credit.
That way nobody can apply for credit unless you unlock the accounts via dual authentication.
When applying for a loan, ask them which service they use. It’ll most often be just 1.

What about the pornhub searches? Asking for a friend.
On a serious note, I'm wondering if giving shady porn sites some level of access to the OMV database is a reason this happened.

What the frick does the OP have to do with Baton Rouge?
Think of Walt as the TD equivalent of a phishing test except it's a trolling test. You failed, BTW

I would do it because their identities can be stolen too.

Multiple states and federal agencies. It was a hack of the MOVEit system which is used by government agencies and financial institutions to facilitate the movement of sensitive data. Get ready because you'll see be seeing banking institutions begin to report data of theirs being compromised.

For those who want to blame state government… this was a private contractor that got hacked.
These days, the private sector is no better than the public sector.
Not this time. This is software OTS uses to move data securely. This may have affected for than motor vehicle as OTS uses this for all agencies they support. Just wait for more info to come out. I don't see how Dickie survives this or the CIO and CISO. The current CISCO sent out a GPO change in the middle of the night and disabled thousands of NIC cards on devices.
Also, this was a known vulnerability with MoveIT. I need to see when MoveIT provided a fix.
