You also called Jay Johnson when he was absolutely not mentioned here.

And thank you for 2017

I've definitely jumped the gun on guys before but there's something to Crews' ABs that are just different. The AB tonight where he went down 0-2 and then drew a walk in the next four pitches was a great example. It's so calm but not in a passive way. It's in a "looking to destroy" but only when I see what I want to see manner.

Only the best have that quality and can do it over and over again.

I don’t want to add to the hyperbole, but watching his command of the strike zone and being a Reds fan, it feels VERY Votto like. He just knows the strike zone so well. He was also getting breaking balls away in heavy doses late in the season and seemed to be struggling with that. Well he adjusted and I saw him lay off some amazing breaking balls off the plate the last couple of weeks.

I haven’t seen this sort of advanced plate approach in college ever.

there is a lot of that but the difference for me is how often Votto is in 'play' mode. Like he's set his own goals for the month rather than just doing pure damage all the time. I see Crews closer to Trout where it's attack in the zone the same way all the time. Over and over doing consistent damage.

But the eye is the backbone of that.

I’m a Reds fan as well! How bout Elly De La Cruz? Dude is gonna be great! I wish they were picking 1st or 2nd this year. They can still get great value at 7 though.

Congrats for nailing that one.

Crews put a big exclamation mark on his Alex Box days with that clutch double in the top of the 9th that put the game out of reach for Kentucky.
