Looking at buying a travel case. I usually borrow a friend’s which is a soft but I see a good deal on a hard case. No issues with the one I’ve borrowed but are there any advantages (or disadvantages) you’ve seen to a hard one?

I got a SKB hard case of CL back in 2007 for $20. Best $20 I ever spent.

My issue with the hard cases is they can be very difficult to squeeze in tight spaces ie cars

Don’t be the guy with the hard case.
Get one with the drop down wheels, padding at the head covers and get a stiff stick make it just a bit longer than your driver.
I’ve traveled with clubs more times than I can count and never had an issue.
The only issues I’ve ever seen is having to get a different car for people with hard cases.

Moctour soft case with hard plastic head for clubs on Amazon. I’ve tried 2 different soft cases with the stiff stick thing.
This case is 100x better, still collapsible and super high quality.

Hard case offers, great protection, but it’s difficult to pack anything else in other than your clubs.
Soft case is very versatile, but I worry about club protection.
I bought a bag boy T10 a few years ago, which is a soft case with a hard top. So far it is served me well on several trips, and I think it is a good compromise.

The heck with that . If you have a couple grand tied up in your clubs and you want a hard case, get one.
I’ve watched baggage handlers tossing bags around. They ain’t gentle.

Or be smart enough not to rent a small
Car when traveling with your clubs. Especially if you’re traveling with “people” and their clubs.

I bought a hard case several years ago when the Southwest check in person said they don't cover damage to soft cover carriers. I've taken this bag to Tahoe 5 years in a row, a couple of bowl games & Cabo and never had an issue on SW, American, United, and Delta.

Problem with hard cases is the weight of it.
Easy to get past the 50 pound limit if you put all your other luggage in your bag like me.
Just get a PVC pipe longer than the driver and tie your clubs to it.
