According to Sam Karlin:

Lots of losers in yesterday's budget debacle. But one winner was Kim Mulkey, who convinced Rs to add in last-minute amendments for money to renovate the PMAC. She had stumped for it, though Gov. Edwards said there were bigger priorities #lalege #lagov

Is the state funding this? If it’s through TAF I wouldn’t expect the state to have any say so in it.

Why should taxpayers pay for this?

Probably because it's a state government facility.

I have no idea what 101 mil can do as far as renovations or how much a new arena would cost. So will the renovations be enough to please the fans and coaches?

It is a construction project in Louisiana. Studies aren't going to pay for themselves.

Public money complicates things. Consultant/engineering selection, the whole bidding process. Then you have to select the lowest responsible bidder. It would be better if TAF was funding 100%.

As a Louisiana taxpayer, I am fine with this. The budget is $45 BILLION. I am sure there is a lot more items that we can nitpick.

LSU is the one of very few bright spots in La.

Take care of them because they'll continue to screw 90% of everything else up.

While I agree with LSU being our shining star. I have little faith that any of that money will actually go to renovations for the PMAC. Call me cynical.
