Anyone ever used one?

Is it possible to create a Wifi (wireless) portable SSD or Hard Drive with it that is battery powered lasting at least 10 hours or so ?

I have a couple of them that I use for emulation and pi-hole.
A raspberry pi is a computer. You can do anything with it that you could do with another computer. You just have to put in operating system on it and set it all up. I have no doubt it would run off a battery.

What's the end goal here? What are you trying to read/write that you need a wireless HD?

If you simply need a wireless HD, no need to use a RaspberryPi, the solution already exists.

Wireless Access External Harddrive

I use Raspberry Pi 4 to run pi-hole. I got lucky and bought one right before covid from Microcenter. I've been wanting to get another but I haven't seen one in stock since covid.

You can find them on ebay/amazon for crazy markups from 3rd parties.

Been using them continuously since their introduction in 2012. Actually have a couple of each model except the CM's

A battery powered wifi NAS should be a pretty simple setup, what do you intend to power it with? a simple variable voltage regulator board and you can use pretty much everything from 18650 cells, lead acid 6/12v UPS type batteries, anything capable of providing over 5v at 3A or better so you can step it down to cleanly power the pi and drives.

Like others have said, it is easy to set one up as a NAS but you will need to buy the battery and the the SSD so it may be easier to buy something already assembled.

I have used RPI’s over the years for a few different projects, the only one I still have running is one I am using to automate my pool equipment (AqualinkD). It has worked great for the last 4 years, but I have had to replace the pi a couple times when water found it’s way in the enclosure.
