Purely curious- I don't care either way- would you be pro-legalization?

Had a discussion with a moderate friend today on a job site and he thinks if one of the candidates on the Republican side said this he could win a ton of the black voting populous.
Federally legalize it. Remove all charges of non-violent marijuana offenses.
I think it would hurt with true conservatives and push more people to the other candidates and overall be a bet negative in the primaries but potentially a positive in the general.
In the general you could flip it on the democrats as something they promised and failed on.
I don't care either way. I don't smoke but I know the access is so easy for everyone that it would only change the economics of it, not access.

Yes. I’m very pro legalization for both cannabis and prostitution

Isn't that the current status quo?

Legalize it. I don’t care if pot heads blaze all day.
It’s a problem for jobs though.
A guy blazes at lunch then wrecks the company truck into a bank.
Now what?
Is the testing quick enough like alcohol now?

Legalize it, but perhaps with the stipulation that Marijuana use forecloses any claim to welfare/medicaid/EBT.

Not sure, but DUI and underaged consumption would to be policed similarly. It wouldn’t be complicated at all, really. shite, everyone is already using

What is the difference between marijuana and alcohol save for the omnipotent and omnipresent lobbying efforts of the alcohol industry? Or the self interests of the DA/Sheriffs' Associations?

Very pro-legalization of any activity that isn’t so dangerous to other people that the best way to curb said behavior is to charge them a fee or remove them from society. If the behavior isn’t dangerous enough to warrant that or that solution would not stop/prevent harm to others, then it shouldn’t be illegal.

I don’t care if it’s legal, but I also think people desperate for it to be legal and base a large part of their persona on smoking and being high are annoying losers. Being around high people is also irritating.

So you want to stop welfare/medicaid/EBT for people doing something that is LEGAL?

Remember when black unemployment was the lowest it's ever been and black business owners were doing better than they ever did since LBJ under Trump and 92% of them voted for Biden?
Legalization won't move the needle.

Why should people who lead hardworking responsible lives subsidize those who do not?

Then you will have a MASSIVE black market

No one is going to switch to voting GOP consistently just because of drug legalization. If there is a moral and ideological reason for pushing for drug legalization (I don't support it), then that's where the argument should be had, but if the GOP pushed for it and achieved it, it would likely get minimal air time on the news, and the Dems would spin it in their favor anyway, or downplay the positives of it (from the pro-legalization side). The GOP would get minimal credit and voters would likely forget about it by the time the next election came around, anyway.
The black population doesn't vote Dem solely because the GOP is anti-marijuana, just like most Republicans wouldn't consistently vote for Democrats if they changed their position on firearms alone (which is a bigger issue than drug legalization for most Reps, I'd imagine).
