My younger sister dying a prolonged death from ovarian cancer in the hospital I was with her in the room sitting right next to her rest of the family out in the hall and I could tell I just bowed my head and looked away to give her some privacy.

Had a guy in hospital tell me he was going home today. I told him he was getting better and he would go home soon but not today. He pointed his finger upward and said again today. He died 2 hours later. I still believe he knew.

When I was 15 my grandmother had been ill and in ICU for sometime. They knew her time was coming to an end and they allowed all the grankids to go in a couple at a time. My cousin and I were in for a brief visit and before we left he told her "See you tomorrow" and her reply was "No you wont". After everyone made their visit she passed away. That was 30 years ago and I still hear those words very clearly.

In the healthcare industry, there is a term for this and I think it is called 'impending death syndrome".. This is what they refer to when a patient is convinced they are about to die..

I have had several nurses over the years mention this to me and while they say there may be no rational explanation for the reason the patient feels this way the nurses all say you'd better take them seriously when the patients start telling you this...

Reminds me of a story my mom tells about my father's mother. My parents were divorced but my mom still routinely called my grandmother for her giblet gravy recipe. She had cancer and told her to write it down one year because she may not be there the next, she was right.

Can you prove him wrong? Do you know for a fact that his beliefs are fallacious?

What happens after you die, and how do YOU know enough about it to call anyone naïve?

Many years ago my grandfather (a preacher all of his life) was called to the bedside of a man who lived a very violent and lawless life, who had no family . My Grandfather said just before the man died that he began screaming that he was burning in fire, and there was smell of fire in the room.

We found my grandfather sitting in his favorite chair holding a picture of his mother. I definitely think he knew he was about to die.
I don’t know why this of all the posts made me want to cry, but it did.

My grandmother was in the hospital and dying of congestive heart failure. We all had time with her saying our last good byes. She was a Christian woman and had no fear of death. She died while my mother was in the room. My mom called the nurses and they ran in and shocked her heart and brought her back. I saw her that evening and she was very upset that they had revived her. She made me promise to tell them not to do it again. She said she was embarrassed and now she would have to tell everyone bye again. She said that a person shouldn't have to die more than once. She passed the next day and this time, they didn't bring her back.

Impending or imminent. It’s pretty wild that a person actively dying and are coming to terms with it without a professional telling them so.

Most def believe them and it’s taught to believe them and comfort them assuring that you are doing everything you can to help them.

I can demonstrate how it’s naive to believe in deities in the year 2023.

As for proof, well, that depends on how concrete the beliefs are.

quote:

What happens after you die, and how do YOU know enough about it to call anyone naïve?

1. What do you remember from before you were conceived? I believe that’s what you can expect when you die. Nothingness.

2. For starters, I have been all over the world. I have been to where Jesus was supposedly born, baptized, arrested, crucified, entombed, and ascended to Heaven. Have you?

I'm not particularly religious, but I'd be interested in this demonstration

quote:

1. What do you remember from before you were conceived? I believe that’s what you can expect when you die. Nothingness.

What do you remember from being 6 months old? 1 year old? If you have no memories of the early months/years of your life, does that mean there was nothingness during that time?

quote:

2. For starters, I have been all over the world. I have been to where Jesus was supposedly born, baptized, arrested, crucified, entombed, and ascended to Heaven. Have you?

And?

Gt747, You seem to be very knowledgeable, assume for the moment that you either possess or have access to half of all knowledge that has ever existed. Is it possible that God exists in the other half of knowledge?
