The Movie Board Summer Movie List

Let's create a summer movie list that we can all use as a guide this summer. I can think of a ton of summer movies, but I don't want to spoil the fun, so I'm going to start by listing one.
Criteria: List one movie that has a summer theme and give a brief explanation of why it's a great summer flick.
My pick:
White Water Summer - Coming of age movie about a teenager who goes on a summer camp adventure only to be pushed to his limits.

The Sandlot - Do I have to explain why I picked this.. "You're killing me Smalls!"

The Way Way Back - Summer at a water park, family drama, coming of age comedy and the great Sam Rockwell. Perfect summer movie.

quote:First movie I thought of after reading OP. Very underrated summer flick. Had a huge crush on Anna Sophia Robb when that movie came out. She's my age btw even tho she played a minor in the film.
The Way Way Back
Edit: I'll add
ET: Extra Terrestrial
The Parent Trap
The Sandlot
Jaws
Weekend at Bernie's
I Know What You Did Last Summer

Are we counting Dazed and Confused? It’s the last day of school I love that movie
Also Caddyshack and Moonrise Kingdom

1. Jaws (most obvious pick)
2. Dazed and Confused
3. The Sandlot
4. Summer School
5. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original of course)
6. Caddyshack
Edit: Texas Chainsaw might seem like an out there choice, but outside of Jaws I couldn’t think of a better representation of summertime horror.

Summer School - Irreverent movie about the teacher who doesn't want to teach Summer School, and the kids who don't want to be there. Everyone wants to ditch, but then they realize they have to rely on each other to get through it all. Plus, young Courtney Thorne Smith at the beach isn't bad.

Great list. Keep them coming. We are looking at a great list of movies. I’m going to watch as many as I can this summer.
Yeah, I wanted everyone to name one. That way we can keep the list going and more people get a chance to participate. There’s still a couple more I thought of right away that haven’t been named.

Impossibly underrated movie.
It may be the best movie of 2013. It's that good.
On the theme of summer camps, I'll throw out Wet Hot American Summer. If you don't like absurd humor, you will probably hate it. But I do, and I absolutely love this movie.

RV
It's gross, stupid, and absolutely hilarious. Robin Williams and Jeff Daniels killed it. Very quotable, too.
