You wouldn’t want to eat there anyway.

At least one location off County Line Road of this type ended up in a viral video because someone got upset their order wasn’t as big as someone else’s.

I’m sad Jackson is so terrible.

I covered it for work for 7 years, and I honestly never felt unsafe. I called on all the hospitals and I’d say the sketchiest moment had in Jackson was a par for the course moment in Baton Rouge or New Orleans. Then again, I always had a security escort to my car in the parking garage at UMMC (typical for all female reps, they offered to walk you in the parking garages) and Merit Health wasn’t too bad during the day when I had to be there.

Always stayed in Ridgeland/Madison, enjoyed Anjou, Ely’s, and several other good places to eat in the area. Jackson people were some of my favorite in a 4 state territory at one point. Didn’t matter what color, they were some of the nicest people I’d ever met. Hate to hear how terrible it is and continues to become.

We looked at buying that location once. It didn't take long for us to scratch that idea. The massive hole in the floor wasn't a good sign.

You mean a shooting area other than the entire city?

What I meant was it would be nice to be able to just step outside the club, get your shooting done and then (if you were the winner) be able to quickly go back inside and get back down to business.

To be technically accurate, you are probably pretty safe in the lobby of the JPD PoPo station and inside the capitol building, both of which are in Jackson. However, people have been shot and killed inside more than one church, every Hospital ER in town, on the lot of at least one funeral home, and (I think) inside at least one cemetery during internment, so I would avoid all of those places.

For the person who talked about Popeye's, they have not built a new Popeye's in Jackson in years. I'm sure someone will correct me, but other than The District and Fondren, I know of no new restaurants built inside Jackson in the last five years. Quite a few beer joint clubs have opened, but they don't count as official chicken places or restaurants.

My foolish plan when we go to Jackson is to stay on bigger streets and preferably the interstate, never drive alongside anyone for more than 20 seconds, be very careful at redlights, it cut off in traffic or at a stop sign, let it go, stay the hell out of that town after dark, avoid doing business inside Jackson at all, other than Doctors, Hospitals, lumber yards, and parts places, and Thank God for Clinton, Madison, Pearl, Ridgeland, Brandon, and Amazon Prime every time I need to buy something. Welcome to America, because even those things are changing.

Do I travel armed? Try me out.

REQUIRED WARNING: This is modern America. Life is now so cheap that you can get shot and killed anywhere and it will do your loved ones no good to tell each other, "The statistical probability of Moma and Daddy getting shot and killed were greater in Jackanistan, Mississippi than here in Louisiana or Georga or Iowa or California, or wherever."

The airport itself is Jackson. That was created by special dispensation of the legislature when it was built in 1960. It is IN Rankin County, surrounded by Pearl, Flowood, and Brandon. The airport is Jackson, it's just not contiguous with the rest of Jackson. Dumbasses.

Yes. As long as that guy was inside the Airport fence, or maybe to where Airport Blvd crosses Old Brandon Road, he was technically inside of Jackson. The moment he moved outside the fence he was back in Rankin County. Even though the Airport is considered Jackson, it is still in Rankin County.

And also, since folks here want to be technically correct, the Jackson Airport is probably safter than any other part of Jackson, Mississippi, as are Pearl, Flowood, Brandon, Madison, and Clinton. Hell, you can even include Bolton, Edwards, Byram, Crystal Springs, and Pocohontas in that claim.

Travelers heading to the Gulf. We used to stop there for breakfast every year until we found a better route to avoid Jackson, Hattiesburg, etc.

Cracker Barrel is going away...we have 2 of them in our country which is 80% white folks and they will nearly get down on their knees and beg you to trade with them. They used to always have a wait but neither does any business at all anymore. Too much building, to little quality. Their spiel worked for years but the nation has moved on. They are now selling alcohol...desparate move...but it hasn't helped.

Take out The entirety of the solid blue district 2 and the state actually would actually be doing pretty damn good.

District 2 is the land that the elder lumumba (father of current mayor) dreamed that could be annexed as “New Afrika”.

I always have heard if you take out several of the counties in the delta and Jackson that Mississippi ranks in the middle of the road for education and poverty. Add those in and we are dead last almost every year
