And tell me what were the ramifications of the last time the government was "shut down"? A few folks got sent home without pay (which they got back pay for) and they put up caution tape at a few parks.

You’re talking about something completely different. If the debt ceiling isn’t raised, the government will default on its existing debt, which will completely blow up the world economy, increase borrowing costs going forward, etc etc etc.

All that would happen is the Republican party would be totally blamed for a shutdown. And that dead armadillo would end up on the presidential
candidates doorstep.
The dems would send the GOP an engraved thank you with strippers and flowers.

Trump added more debt to this country than any president in history besides Obama. He needs to go away

To be fair, minus covid expenses, Trump's numbers weren't bad.

And Trump didn't follow his own advice during his time in office.

He folded like a barcalounger.

Wow… Trump spent his last name was Obama. Art of the Deal and such. Budget deficits by year.

2017: $665 billion
2018: $779 Billion
2019: $984 Billion
2020: $1.02 Trillion (this doesn’t include the $2.2T in pandemic money)

The sooner we default the sooner people get to learn about math, and the harsh realities that come with it

Hope you have your retirement money stuffed in your mattress if the country defaults.

It was. And honestly, McCarthy might lose his speakership over it when he inevitably relies on democrats support to pass a debt limit increase through the house.

frick the dems. I would ask for more than they already have

Exactly. Art of the Deal type stuff. Want to sell something for $1000? Ask $1500. Settle for $1000.
