You're complaining about sanitary products for girl's periods being provided. You're advocating for them to not have access to those products and that's pretty unsanitary for everybody. Again, gross.

frick you I've done no such thing. I'm advocating for me not paying for it besides for the ones I already fricking pay for.

Not wanting to pay taxes for tampons means I don't have good hygiene?

Yea, it's definitely the tampons that are the issue.

In all seriousness, it sounds like it has bipartisan support with the voting numbers and passing out of multiple committees unopposed.

This is the type of shite that makes these studies/statements seem like they are just pulling shite out of their arse. When using these types of figures, you would consider there would be consistency regardless of age; and if anything, that number would increase for the younger females. But to go from 40% of all women, to 25% of female students makes people thing the numbers are made up to fit an agenda.

By the way, I have no problem with providing free sanitary products, cleaning products for use after PE, lunches, etc. in public schools. Just pointing out the inconsistency.

of all the things to get your panties in a wad over this is a weird one. I get the idea for "funding other people's shite" but this is different then providing food for a welfare rat that won't even try to get a job.

As a high school teacher that has had to have janitors come in to clean a chair that a student bled through on I'd rather make sure every step is being taken to keep situations like that from happening.

A high school kid can't help what situation their family is in.

ETA: using stupid made up terms like "period poverty" probably doesnt help the cause, though.

Am curious about the 17 against it and if there is something else buried in the bill that had them go against it. Because you know there is always some bullshite in these bills that have absolutely nothing to do with the purpose of the bill

Using bullshite numbers like 2 in 5 also doesn't help.

IMO that's fair. It sounds like it got sent back to Committee after the first round, likely because of some pork. But I think it coming out of both Committees unopposed (and I imagine Louisiana's congress makeup is similar to ours here in Kentucky, leaning more conservative across the board) probably speaks to it being retooled in a fashion to appease both sides of the aisle.

you know im not completely sure 2 in 5 is necessarily THAT far off. You gotta remember there's alot of really fricking poor communities in Louisiana, especially in the Northeast/Central parts of the state. While the argument that their family probably could afford those products if the parents made changes is definitely true, at the end of the day the kid themselves has little to no say on that in most situations. So if youre just talking about kids themselves 2 in 5 may not be that far off for the whole state. It does seem like a lot but taking a deeper dive into it I could see where it might be accurate. The article doesnt really say if their talking about women as a whole or what so IDK what population theyre pulling their data from.

That bridge was crossed long ago by a large segment of American society. It continues to be crossed by more all the time. It appears to be a one way crossing for most. Just as the government planned.

Nothing buried in the bill at all, pretty straightforward.

You can buy tampons from Walmart for less than 20 cents a piece. I simply will not accept that cost is too much for 40% of girls. If feminine products are not high up on their families' purchasing priorities, that's a different discussion.

You should probably sit this one out. Despite having a large gaping vagina, you clearly have no clue how periods & period products work.

feel like the no's were probably some of the hard nosed repubs that are completely against "free shite" no matter what. Which, while i disagree in this case, if youre gonna take a stance i respect following it through no matter what.

when it comes to the individual student themselves not really since their financial situations is directly tied to the family's.
