I don't know why they are trying this again with JBE still in office. He will veto it once it it hits his desk and Louisiana will remain the ONLY southern state without Constitutional Carry.

To show the Republicans for JBE once again how stupid they were to vote for this asswipe.

Are there votes to override his veto?

Yes, every election allows voters to elect people to office that align with them on issues like CC.
It seems the LA voters didn't believe JBE for who he is politically.

There were during the regular session last year so they called an override session. Magically, some of those votes disappeared when it came time to actually take a stand.

What is current Louisiana law? My recollection is open carry without a permit, but concealed carry only with one. Is that correct?

Yes. Just to add Louisiana carry license is quite expensive compared to other southern states and well as most states.

Correct. The reason the veto override failed last time is because law enforcement around the state pushed against it during the override session.

I hope it stays that way. Unpermitted concealed firearms just legalizes the gang bangers who carry unpermitted concealed weapons everywhere. I'd rather the police be able to confiscate guns from the drug dealers on the corner.

Until they're convicted felons and/or commit crimes, their rights are their rights.

HB 464 proposes an increase in the penalty for concealed carry of a firearm by a felon. If Louisiana is going to go with no-permit concealed carry, this should be a high priority also.

Democrats will yell and cry that asking for a free government Id card is asking to much for minorities and stopping them from voting (a right), but for some strange reason see no issue with having to require the same minorities to spend hundreds of dollars on classes and permits to exercise another right. Republicans should be bringing up democrats being very racist to shove it in their face that they want more young black people to get additionally charged for illegally concealing a firearm when they make it prohibitively expensive and timely to do so.

Because not every democrat is an anti-Gun/pro-Criminal idiot, especially in the south.
Could be that they are showing that everytime Louisiana elects a liberal governor they are playing "woke" russian roulette in hopes of convincing some democrat voters that the next guy their party pushes might be much worse than Mr. Honor code.

I'd rather the criminal or gooooooooooooooberment be scared of me because they do not know whether I am carrying or not.

frick'em. When I come in from Texas and visit family in LA I still conceal carry. Don't care, if I need I need it.

Such thugs are carrying NOW, and thus breaking the law and giving LEOs an excuse to arrest them. Change the law, and their actions become legal, and LEOs lose a tool in controlling the gang problem. This is probably one of several reasons that Louisiana LEOs opposed the last bill.
Some genius will now accuse me of agreeing with this analysis, just because I understood the comment and explained it to someone who did not.
My only problem with unlicensed concealed carry is that some people are simply too fricking stupid to do it safely. One of my 16 first cousins carries everywhere. Literally everywhere. At family Thanksgiving, he sits around drinking with a gun in his pants, surrounded by two dozen small children. He has been asked to lock it in his glove box when he is around all the children, but he refuses. Poor judgment. The family is not going to exclude him from the gathering, so we all become responsible for keeping the little kids away from his drunk arse.

I almost explained everything you just said, but I'm happy to let you take the heat
