What folks sometimes miss about the "corporate rock" era is that it involved a lot of extraordinarily talented people.
I would say Heart belongs on that list, too.

I’m in a cover band that only plays 1970s era guitar rock …and it’s a blast!

I can't imagine having to record on tape in that era. When you're paying outrageous amounts to even be there. I couldn't do it like the older guys did it, I require more takes than 2 or 3.
My whole basement would be garbage bags of clipped tape.
Modern recording methods have had to have made a mental impact on all musicians. It's a strange comfort in knowing you don't have to nail it by the 2nd attempt.
I used to burn through cassettes with my Tascam Portastudio 414 4-Track.

Any love for Mountain? I just started listening to more of their stuff because I watched the Randy Rhoads documentary on Amazon and they talked about how Randy really liked Leslie West.
