This happened to my little Maggie. She and our other dog, Boudreaux, had a HUGE helping of chicken skin and fat one evening that probably pushed her over the edge and into Evan's Syndrome. It didn't affect Boudreaux though. She lived another five years, but was always fighting weight gain due to the steroids and other meds we had her on. In the end it finally got her. I was out of town on a long term project and wasn't here to say goodbye to her when it finally caught up to her and took her.

We feed our current blue tick tastes of table scraps from time to time, but we're not going to expose her to that kind of risk.

Very close to you is GVA Russell Ridge. That's where I recommend taking your vet business.

I might have to check that out. Dr. Baker over at East Gwinnett on Hwy 20 saved Maggie when she first went down with Evans and was able to give us five more good years with her. We take Ruby over there as well, but I believe Dr. Baker has started another veterinary clinic near Winder.

I'll have to look into your recommendation.

My 2 cats are so damn picky, wish I had all the money back that I spent trying to figure out what food they like and might eat.

I did the farmers dog thing for a lil bit but that shite is super expensive. I was spending more on dog food than I was for my own.

Why? Because you want to. Not because the dog would rather “sweets” over anything else in particular.

My cat lives on leftover trimmed chicken skin and fat. Her favorite is ground beef. She loses her mind when I give her the water from cans of tuna.

She’s obese.

My Maltese will fight you to get fries. Good thing for him that I rarely eat them, so every time I eat out, he hits the jackpot. I don't give him alot, but he enjoys the hell out of them.

I feed my Pomeranian cheap strip on sale at Rouses and sugar free chocolate snowballs during the summer. Cooler weather rolls back around and we’ll usually make a huge pot of seafood gumbo on Sunday and she’ll chip away at it all week swapping rice for German potato salad every other day. Gnocchi with pesto is always a big hit as are Eclairs with espresso if we ever have company, or need a treat for being a good girl.

That's why I just let mine forage for what they can catch. Survival of the fittest.

I have six pitbulls and live near an elementary school. I've never seen healthier pups!

1:1 ratio of Fancy Feast/Spam

If that’s too rich for your blood, mild boudin poached in any dry white wine you have laying around from lunch the previous day will work in a pinch.

The question of what to do with the casing is inevitable. Short answer is, it makes a great chew toy. But only as a reward for being polite. Don’t let him/her/they/them dictate when or why they receive a reward.

No, pet food is not a scam. It is a way to ensure a balanced diet for pets for people who don't have the time or inclination to cook or prepare food for them, or need a cheaper alternative to preparing fresh meals.

Dogs are omnivores; cats are carnivores. That is the first thing you need to know if you want to prepare proper diets for your animals. Also you should research what they can and can't eat and if they need certain things (like cats need enough taurine in their diet for heart health).

Raw diets can lead to E-coli and Salmonella, among other things, for both you and your pet if you are not handling them properly.

Stones can happen with any diet as urinary pH is in large part diet dependent.

If you want to prepare a diet, check with a vet nutritionist.

If you want a good source of reviewed foods out there, dogfoodadvisor.com is a pretty good source and keep its recall alerts up to date.

You talking about vets? Didn’t we establish that we are pretty loose and fast with the title “doctor”?
