We have our dogs on Simparica for fleas and ticks and I guess it's doing its job to some degree.

They spend most of their day ratting around in the woods and come back covered in ticks. If a tick has bitten them, of course it's dead but we still have to pick it off. The ones that haven't bitten them yet crawl onto us or in the house.

I also spray them with permithrin once a month.

Is there anything that will keep the damn things off of them? When they let us we will pick about 8-10 off of them a day easily.

Maybe fence the yard and stop letting your dogs run free in the woods all day long? There is all kinds of evil waiting to befall them if they are roaming all over the place.
Then it is easy to treat the yard and control fleas and ticks.

20 acre yard. They have gps collars that keep them on the property.

Cover them in garlic oil or feed them garlic.

Of course, you also may not want to do that for obvious reasons.

Bravecto chewable. Treats for fleas and ticks for 3 months, though I go 4 months and still never see any fleas or ticks on mine.

Can’t vouch for ticks but that collar isn’t keeping the fleas off my dog. I bought it because it was highly recommended too.

Bravecto chewables and spray your immediate yard around your house for fleas and ticks. Maybe use liquid dip every other week during the hot months.

I spread bifen granules around the house a ways out. 5acres so not hitting the whole pad. I did a run of frontline too recently on my dog. I don’t fight ticks at the house. Camp, different story lol.

This. My dogs have been on it for 5 years, we live in a rural wooded area they roam all over and I’ve never once had to pull off a tick.

I have found that Bravecto kills the ticks that bite them, but it doesn’t keep them off my dog at all.

Bravecto chewable, once every 3 months.
Also helps to use Talstart in yard and areas they lay mostly....allow to dry.

Bravecto works great! I treat them in late May or June and it lasts until the winter. I havent seen fleas or any ticks on my dogs in years. And I have 4 outside dogs too.

100% truth. I get peace of mind that they are pretty unlikely to pass a tick to one of us.

OP - Damn. Oral meds + permethrin and they still pick up ticks? That’s about as bad as my Ozark ticks. When I lived in Louisiana, I had no idea ticks could be this bad.

They barrel off into the woods like they are crazy. I've already sprayed about 10 gallons of talstar. They aren't getting them from the yard.

I've picked so many off my GSP that he won't hardly come near me anymore
