Anybody else dealing with bad fleas this year? We’ve been in our house for 15 years, with dogs the whole time minus 3-4 months and have never had an issue with fleas until this spring. My vet friend says they’re worse than normal everywhere.

They are living on a host animal. You may want to set some traps.

We haven’t had a flea problem for several years, since our oldest Pug passed, after that we took out all the carpet and replaced it with the LVP. As far as I’m concerned, carpet is a breeding ground for fleas.

Put some talstar granules down in your yard.

Treated the dogs today and washed their bedding. Sprayed the yard with Cutter Friday, and will probably spray again next week. Haven’t noticed any new neighborhood animals or new vermin, but I guess I’m rarely up at the same time they are anymore.

I haven’t noticed any fleas jumping on/off me, so hopefully I can control the problem before it gets worse.

Old remedy that works wonders. Put vinegar in a spray bottle. Before leaving for the day, most around the house and on all doorways. You can even mist the dog as it won’t harm them. The smell will go away by the time you get home. Fleas hate the smell and will run from it. Your house will be clear of fleas in no time.

We had them bad last year. Have been proactive so far this year and got my dog on a quarterly Bravecto chew which has been the real deal for us. Also have been sprinkling borax under the sofa cushions about once a month and letting it sit before vacuuming it up an hour later.

No fleas thus far.

In addition to the Talstar, I used a product called Nyguard that I sprayed in the yard as well. Its expensive, but combined with talstar it knocked my flea problem out.

quote:

Nyguard Insect Growth Regulator by MGK can effectively break the reproductive cycle of the toughest insect pests, including cockroaches, fleas, mosquitoes, ants, and flies. Nyguard inhibits flea reinfestation by fleas for up to 7 months and is also labeled for use in food areas of food-handling establishments.

Had a stray dog that brought a shite load around my house then hammered them with the mix above. Poof!

We had them bad last year. they are around again but not yet to 2022 levels. The cans of nyguard work but take time so you have to be patient. Also they are about $50/can. Lowes has some light traps by terro that can be placed near bedding areas but if you have a lot of fleas you have to treat yard and spray to really eliminate them
