Come on. You know what was being implied.
They're playing dumb, it's the only way to make a failed point, to pretend by saying they're worthy of death and they should be drowned to death, they're just reciting bible verses. It's a pretty dumb excuse if you're being honest with yourself.

But also, this pastor did not serve jail time.

It's a free speech issue. You obviously aren't for free speech if you think this way.
You don't understand what free speech means, so you gotta get that under control before chiming in.

We all are, friend. Are you believing you are above natural laws?

How do you know that this man wishes their physical or even spiritual death?

because after he posted the verse about how they should be drowned he wrote

"since there so triggered over that verse I wonder how they feel about" then proceeds to post the Romans verse about being "worthy of death

why do you think he purposely chose these verses?

I implore you to be honest for once in this thread.

Have you ever stepped foot in a church?

Death is spiritual.

In churches nowadays, they single people out and tell them they should be drowned to death?

shite, I really haven't been to church in quite some time, didn't realize that was normal nowadays in church.

Kinda sounds like you're saying that saying someone should be drowned to death indeed is hating on them.

You're make less sense than you normally do.

I had a preacher try one time. After he was done he said I was saved, which was weird since he tried to drown me.

The guy singling people out multiple times talking about how they're worthy of death and they should be drowned to death...

And your argument is that I'm not making sense by saying that guy is hating on them?

Well then...

Of course it's spiritual but the couple's fear is that he is specifying the passages to them and someone will take it literally.

Its VERY personal to him/her (wink)

Notice how many angry posts in this thread for a supposed "above the fray moderate." He's killing it here. Must have hundreds.

Where? When he quoted Matthew 18:6 where he quotes Jesus who says that "whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea."?

If so, then that is not a personal threat. That is a quote from the Bible, and even Christ did not instruct anyone to throw anyone into the sea, but simple said that it would be better for them than to cause a little one who believes in Him to stumble, and so the obvious message is not coming from the preacher, but from Christ Himself.

He's arguing that pastors talking about death in church is the exact same thing as this guy posting pics of specific people on social media and saying they should be drowned to death.

Same thing!!
