At least he outlived Louisville's basketball program.

Too soon?
But, truth and funny statement!

He’s just a bit older than my dad. Spoke to my dad this morning.

Never nervous Pervis. That 86 team was great with him, Billy Thompson and Milt Wagner. He had another really good team in either 94 or 95 with Clifford Rozier and Dejuan Wheat but got knocked out by Zona. Always liked him and his teams, they always seemed to beat my Tigers even when it looked like we had em.

I got a chance to be around the program in his last couple of years he coached and he was absolutely one of the nicest guys you could meet. Also would run into him at John E’s on a regular basis (grew up not far from there) before that.
One of the best radio shows in the area was with him and former UK coach Joe B. Hall.
After retiring, when I worked at a high-risk, low income middle school down off Taylor, he would host the 8th graders out at his farm where they’d go fishing, learn about archery, and they’d have a big catered lunch for them. And interacted with all of the kids. Dude was giving back even years after he stopped coaching.
It’s a shame he was done the way he was by Jurich.

Loved his teams. Two national titles for the metro conference. May he rest in peace

I always thought he was a decent guy.
Definitely a legend in the sport.

RIP Cool Hand Luke.
A sad day in Louisville.
Hopefully the city will give him a great send off.
Denny and Joe B are in heaven talking about fishing and basketball again.

I’m convinced Pitino is going to go until he dies courtside.
The stories those two would have though.
