Tried the search engine thing, but hoping someone here has better knowledge than what I'm finding.

Honda is stopping production later this year, so inventory is diminishing.

I'd guess the parts will be diminishing also.

I did a home depot ship to store and then picked mine up for free.

Parts situation is already bad. The Chinese knockoff parts will be around for a while but most of that is crap.

Are they going all electric too? I've noticed recently that HD and Lowes have way more electric stuff than gas these days

Nah, they are getting out of the mower business. I suspect you will find the exact same models including Honda engines next year sold by someone else. Honda is still making the small engines, just not the mowers. That machinery and design is probably getting sold off.

So any suggestions on a similar or better mower than the Honda self-propelled?

Try K and D hardware on Old Hammond. I bought a Honda push mower from them a few years ago. Same prices as the big box stores.

I have a 21" Self Propelled Honda with "Easy Start" that has been used very little. Last year I went from Centipede to Zoysia grass and now using a Power Reel Mower. Great condition and I would consider selling it.
