Baton Rouge based Amedisys sells for 3.6 billion.

Option Care Health Buys Amedisys for 3.6 Billion
Option Care Health, an Illinois-based infusion company, announced Wednesday it has reached a $3.6 billion all-stock deal to acquire Amedisys and turn the Baton Rouge-based home health company into a subsidiary.
Under the agreement, Amedisys shareholders will receive just over three shares of Option Care Health stock for every share they own. Shares of Amedisys closed at $78.63 Wednesday, while Option Care Health closed at $32.79.
The combined company will be headquartered in Bannockburn, Illinois, but in a statement Amedisys said it will maintain “substantial operations” in Baton Rouge and Nashville, where it has executive offices.

That reminds me. How is Albemarle doing in BR today? Louisiana is the black hole of shitty business climate in an otherwise bustling south. But hey! At least we a crawfish a few months out of the year. The Governor and useless legislature deserve a Pat on the back!

So based on news that is currently on the first page of the OT - Amedisys is worth about $3 billion more than Ruth’s Chris, and over $2 billion more than IMG Academy…. No wonder folks in healthcare want to keep the US medical/insurance industry as expensive and dysfunctional as it is, they are making too much money !

The body of former Amedisys CEO Bill Borne was found in a wooded area off Hoo Shoo Too Road Tuesday, bringing to at least 11 the death toll believed related to recent flooding in Louisiana.
Borne, 58, died of an accidental drowning and was discovered near Mallard Lakes, said East Baton Rouge Coroner William "Beau" Clark.
The body of former Amedisys CEO Bill Borne was found in a wooded area off Hoo Shoo Too Road Tuesday, bringing to at least 11 the death toll believed related to recent flooding in Louisiana.
Borne, 58, died of an accidental drowning and was discovered near Mallard Lakes, said East Baton Rouge Coroner William "Beau" Clark.

He was found near Mallard Lakes because he lived in Mallard Lakes. He went for a ride on his ATV to look things over during the flooding of 2016. He was missing for a few days prior to his body being found. It was determined that at some point the ATV turned over and he was thrown into the water. He was alone at the time so what exactly happened is not certain.Two young daughters and his wife were left behind. Really a sad story.
