First thing you need to do is determine whether it was your Lyft account (that your card is tied to) or your card that was compromised.
This seems like unusual activity for a compromised card.

I’ve gone thru this twice and was wiped out the first time, completely took my identity. It was over 3 weeks before I got it back. Thousands of dollars, everything I had. The second time wasn’t near as much but still.
I change my card every 3-6 months. I use one card that I keep no money on, but transfer what I need, when I leave & know I’ll need money. I leave my main debit card at the house unless I know I need it. And use cash.
The bank knows my spending habits & will place holds on certain purchases, & I have it set up no more than $300 can be removed from the atm. I have other protocols in place, it can be a hassle at times, but man I do not want to go thru not having a penny to my name.
They’re not getting it online as much as they used to, their skimming it right out of your pocket. That chip & tap pay bullshite is the worse thing that could’ve happened & the best for thieves.

I never use my debit cards and run everything through my credit card.

How do you have a charge without knowing about it? I can't think of a single account that I don't get instant notifications on.
Even if you don't get notifications, how do you go an entire month without glancing at your account? We have access on our phones 24/7.
given that all it takes is calling the bank and telling them someone is using your card or account and that is the end of it why go through any extreme measures to ensure that no one is using either? I know that is a shitty attitude but given the number of times I have used a card and received a text from the issuer asking that I confirm the charge after being told by a person or the system if online that the charge has been declined I am not in any mood to help the bank identify fraud...screw them. When I notice it I will let them know, but I am not going out of my way to monitor it for them...

I like to be surprised at the end of the month
I know how much money I have in the bank without access to the internet...and I know that the balances of ALL of my credit cards is zero unless I have used them and will pay them off before the end of the "grace" period...I have had it happen with both credit cards and debit cards and when I noticed it I notified the issuer and that was the end of it...money restored, maybe issued a new card, maybe not...why would I go out of my way to, with all banks lack of customer service, to notify them that someone has robbed them?

Exactly….I check my accounts each and every day. I want to catch any fraudulent charges before they get out of hand. It paid off once when I noticed $200 fraudulent charges in one day at a Kum and Go. I was able to take care of it the very next day.

Irresponsible not to reconcile and check every 2-3 days max.

I check my bank accounts that have debit cards connected to them but never check my credit card.
I switched from using a mixture of the cards to using nothing but credit cards. My thought was if they get the info they are charging credit and not taking cash out of my bank account.

Definitely sounds like the Lyft account was hacked and not the credit card info.
And I’m pretty sure I listened to a Podcast about how hacked Uber/Lyft accounts is becoming common.

Well…now who is the perv visiting porn sites. That maybe how they got your info.
Evidently, the new Louisiana porn law is causing some identity theft issues with its age verification system.
Fox 13 Utah - Pornhub Blocks Utah Traffic After Age Verification Law Implemented
Buried in the story is a quote from a trade group that said identity theft is on the rise in Louisiana since users in Louisiana have to verify their age.

We're already seeing incidents of identity theft in Louisiana related to the law, and expect the same in Utah," Mike Stabile, a spokesperson for the Free Speech Coalition (the trade group representing the adult entertainment industry) told FOX 13 News.

Pretty much this exact thing happened to me today. I noticed it in my pending charges and was going to keep investigating but Chase also caught it and asked me. I verified it wasn't me and they closed the card

If people in Louisiana don’t know how to use a VPN they deserve to have their identity stolen.

This. I’m logged into mint almost constantly. On top of that I get notifications for charges on any card I have.

I use a VPN for work but not sure I need one outside of that.

Had that happen recently, noticed card company that charges were not authorized , took a couple of months but charges were forgiven

I had a card cloned a few months ago. They ordered a bunch of stuff online and capital one froze the card after they made 5-6 online purchases.
Everything that was purchased was delivered with my name but had my neighbors address. I guess they planned to pick it up off their porch but never did.

I’m set up to receive a notification of anything over $10. I get a text.
