I saw this idea and thought it was interesting.

Imagine if every New Orleans team was the saints and black and gold, or every NY team was the Yankees etc… Not sure how it would work for cities with multiple pro teams of the same sport like Chicago, LA, NY…

I think it could bring up overall fandom of all teams, it would make people feel more of a connection to all the sports even if they aren’t fans of that sport. For example if you only care about football you still might support the other sports because they are all a part of the “program”, kind of like supporting a college athletic program.

Anyway I thought the idea was kind of cool.

Pittsburgh is pretty close with the pro teams' colors.

Yeah the name part sounds dumb but how Pittsburgh teams have the city flag colors is pretty cool.

St Louis Cardinals and New York Giants were both in football and baseball right?

Atlanta is also close. The Hawks, Falcons, and Atlanta FC (and UGA) all wear Red/Black. Then the Braves (and WNBA Dream) are red/navy

New York also has the Mets, Islanders, New York FC and Knicks all with orange/blue

Colors is one thing, but same team names is the most idiotic conversation of all time.

The Mets colors represent the baseball teams that moved, the blue was from the Dodgers and the orange from the Giants

In the 1920's there was not only the New York Yankee, MLB team, there was a New York Yankee, NFL team and the New York Black Yankees.

well it's happened before

St Louis Cardinals - MLB and NFL
New York Giants - MLB and NFL

The Steelers also used to be the Pirates before changing their name.

Boston used to have the baseball Braves (moved to Atlanta) and the football Boston Braves (changed their name to the Redskins and moved to DC)

Brooklyn used to have an MLB and NFL team named the Dodgers.

Of all time that’s a strong statement. Why is that?

I’ll be honest I don’t know who you are talking about. I was having this conversation with a friend, he brought it up, so maybe he listens to whoever you’re talking about

I never listen to the podcast but there is a Barstool podcast with 3 girls. Barstool posts their clips on the main Instagram page all the time and they are mind-numbingly dumb. They were having this very debate like 2 days ago.

Fun fact: the NY Giants MLB team was originally called the NY Gothams.

Um:

I hear the merchandise still outsells existing franchises while the trailer park Thunder are dead last in attendance…. David Stern is the most overrated sports figure in American sport’s history by a light year.

It’s done in Europe.

Real Madrid is a sports club. They have teams in other sports besides soccer.

Here’s Luka playing for Real Madrid’s basketball team:

Random one that most people don't think about.

Denver has had a Colorado Rockies NHL team and have a current Colorado Rockies MLB team.
