That's like half their attendance

Sounds like a mutiny to me and we know what happens to mutineers.

PNC Park is an absolute gem of a ballpark.

The Pirates owner is awful.

We went last season the weekend the Cardinals were there and Tennessee was playing at Pitt. On the Friday night there were more Tennessee fans at the game than Pirates fans. All weekend there were more Cardinals fans.

The ease of getting to and from the stadium and how well the stadium is set up should mean they have good crowds. Concessions are on the cheaper end for MLB, which is still a little high, but the owner is cheap as frick.

The highest free agent contract they've ever given out was Ivan Nova in 2016 and that was 3 years for $26MM.

Found this in another article; PSIEU = Pittsburgh Stadium Independent Employees Union

quote:

PSIEU President and 44-year employee Mike Kelly said ushers earned $9 an hour in 2005. Almost two decades later, Kelly said they are making $9.35 an hour.

"Acrisure is making $15 this year," Kelly said. "They're offering us $12.40. That math is pretty simple."

The union claims the average usher pay across the country is $13.80. At the latest negotiation, the union said the Pirates offered them $12.40.

They have been ranked in the bottom 5 in attendance over the last few years. Been averaging less than 19,000 fans since 2017. Heard the owner is very cheap even though he is worth more than a billion dollars.

Only reason fans will notice, is because no one will be screaming in their ear about cold beer here

With them not working, pirate attendance goes down 80% for games.

I mean...are they arguing they aren't busy enough? Taking tickets for the Pirates can't be hard work. Can it?

yikes

I know a guy who worked at Busch stadium, up till this season(car got broken into, he said frick it, im done).

They make $25 an hour to be ushers.ticket takers, etc there. There is a union, but i dont think he paid anymore than 10ish dollars a month.

you can make more, and they had some decent perks.

for $25 an hour, i dont think it's a bad gig, but those fricking summer days do get brutal.

The Pirates are nothing more than a training team for other, bigger teams more committed to winning.

It’s a shame that they are an actual MLB team that doesn’t even try to win. They just… exist.
