They very clearly see how house number. They're even in body cam debating if they're at the correct house. Man goes to check what the commotion is with his gun, and police shoot him dead in his doorway.

What do y'all think?

Will need pics of shooter and victim before a rational decision can be made.

What would the charges be if the situation was reversed?

He would be charged with murder.

Murder, and this is the sort of thing which sets off rampant rioting and calls in earnest for defunding

That’s straight up murder

The man has every right to meet them with a gun - they never announced themselves once the door was opened

I think it’s way too early to come to any conclusions. Any LEO is going to stop the threat.

They may have gone to the wrong address, but the homeowner came out with a firearm pointed at them while they thought they were going to a domestic dispute call.

If you’ve never done a ride along with your local Law Enforcement, I encourage everyone to do it. There’s nothing like walking up to a car or home with unknown circumstances to help gain a better understanding of how some of these instances, although horrible, can sometimes happen.

Police are idiots for going to the wrong house. But if I'm the homeowner I keep cover no matter what I think is going on. If it's someone trying to rob me, I don't walk into the doorway giving them a free shot at me. Stupid arse cops should have backed away the second they realized there was confusion about the address. They fricked up and killed someone. But he did point a gun at them so it's not clear cut murder.

This might not be the best thread to place this PSA.

I agree. If I'm bringing a gun to my door I'm going to be much more cautious than this guy was because I'm assuming there is a lethal threat to me waiting outside

So, what happens if cops miss and he defends
himself and kills a cop?

Why are police more protected than citizens?

If what Derek Chauvin did was murder, this is definitely murder.
