One of my favorites from some loaded teams.

Played lights-out versus Georgetown in '89.

Dale had him alter his shot - higher arc - to account for Alonzo Mourning and Sims delivered.

God bless his family.

No. Just no. I was in school with Wayne and the softness of his jumper matched the softness of his heart. He was a gentle giant with a peaceful expression on his face, almost always. He exuded goodness. I'm just so sorry for the Sims family. I know father and son are reunited in a better place but pardon me for taking a moment to feel bad about what we in the LSU community have lost. RIP, Big Man. You made everything you did better.

Same. I can't, and don't want to imagine what it is like to lose your only son and husband in the span of less than 5 years.

2 of the greatest, and my favorite Tigers both wore 44. Don Redden and Big Daddy. What Don Redden did in 86 is the story of legends. What 44 Sims did was also legendary. LSU needs to never let anyone wear 44 again.

He was definitely a true Tiger. This is painful. I had the opportunity to meet him a few times during his playing days at LSU. My mother use to cook for the team on Sunday's. Love his mid-range jumper. Two beautiful souls gone…rest in peace Sim's family.

One of his best plays didn’t involve him making a shot. In the Georgetown game, Russel Grant shot an air ball with seconds left. Georgetown was in position to rebound the shot and end the game. Wayne moved around the Georgetown player enough to get one hand on the ball and tip it to Ricky Blanton. The rest is history. Very high basketball IQ. Soft touch. Unselfish. What a great Tiger !

One of my favorites from my time at LSU!
I remember watching him at one of the home games and he was on fire! I think he went 8 for 8 from the field that night!
I’ll never forget that game!

Watching Lex Morris knock down those mid-range shots in the title game reminded me of Sims. Smooth stroke.
