Not saying this is at all true especially coming from Jordy who isn’t really a big Pels talker but that’s a bold statement. If true then Zion really does have some balls to think he has any right to demand a trade after we gave him a max deal like he said he wanted and then plays all of 6 weeks of the season. I had hopes Zion would grow up now that he’s on his 2nd contract but he seems disinterested and I really wonder what his teammates think about him. I think it’s fairly obvious BI and Zion aren’t going to be going on vacations together in the off-season but the entire squad has to be frustrated with him by now.

If his threat is he will sit out if not getting a trade, that really isn't much of a threat when we are all expecting 25-40 games a year anyway.

Seems the team is frustrated with both of our top 2 players and their loooooong injury rehabs, which is why you can really only have 1 guy like that, if any...but not 2. Next year is the make or break year, we simply cannot keep this team going with these 2 players IF we have yet another season where the 2 guys combined play less than half of their games AND both have issues getting back on the court in a timely fashion from injuries to the point where other players and the FO is frustrated by both of them. Again, that's IF all of those things happen. If we're healthy for the 1st time ever, then great, let's roll.

I have no clue who a Culotta is but generally speaking, someone may be one of the first to know something like that, but if Zion were truly "barking trade demands" we would know from Shams or Woj very soon after someone like a Culotta would know.

Not always...

And with small market teams, these guys pick and choose how serious something is... to small market media they can have rumblings (likley what it is)... but Griff and others associated would have a scale of how serious it would be and this is prob more of an in house thing currently.... and those bigger guys know about it but just not worth reporting until it escalates.

This happens in all sports in all markets.

Jordy Culotta. He's a Baton Rouge based radio guy. He focuses 95% on LSU related topics so like others have said, its questionable what kind of sources he has with the Pels.

He's the local radio host that has a relationship with Zion's stepdad and "broke" some of the news about the strained relationship when all the Portland stuff happened. I say broke in quotes because we still don't really know what went down or how bad things were.

OP, was there any context to the trade demands? Is this more Zion thinks he's ready but the training staff won't let him play? That's the opposite of what Griff said publicly and as sleazy as I think Griff is, I can't see him making that up if it weren't true. So if it is true and Zion isn't ready, these trade demands don't make sense unless he's just trying to get people like Nelson or Griff fired.

Yeah, I don't get why Zion would be unhappy unless:

- He wants to play and they won't let him
- He is just fed up with the training staff and all the good will that developed over the summer is now gone again

It's just weird. Everything seemed find until the injury.

I also would point out there seemed to be a bit of a difference in Zion's feelings and Zion's step dad's feelings. Lee Anderson, who would be the likely source here, and Griff clearly had and possibly still have beef. So this may be just more of that. Griff threw my son under the bus, so let me throw this grenade back at him.

Well from a financial standpoint, it made no sense for Zion to not get the max extension, so it would not be shocking to think he played things out in a way to get the Pelicans to give him that guaranteed money, and then push for a trade. He gets best of both worlds in the maximum amount of money and then likely forcing his way to the team of his choosing (see AD).

The only difference in the AD situation was that he had 2 years left on his contract with one year opt out. Here, it is a bit different, but these players have been getting so entitled, nothing surprises me anymore.

Jordy was the one that put out the "watch for exciting Zion news tomorrow!" Tweet last year, and then Z posts the between the legs video

He definitely has in roads with someone in Zions camp- probably step-dad

Our best chance at a title is to have a healthy Zion.

But having a healthy Zion seems to be a very slim possibility unless he intends to change his body which I don't think he will to the degree necessary.

Trading him unless you get a real stud back just doesn't move needle for me.

This is the kind of shite that makes me laugh when people talk about trading BI or Zion or CJ. What superstars want to come to NOLA? None…so when we have on let’s not try to run them off.

None probably. We need to find the next Duncan-type star. A guy who doesn't care about glamour or a brand, etc.

We've done pretty well with BI, Herb, Trey, etc. But finding that unicorn to swap Zion for...that's tough.

Would ya'll consider this?

Zion for

Lauri Markkanen
Walker Kessler
Sexton
and one of the Jazz's million picks

You instantly improve 3 point shooting and length and gain a very promising shot-blocking big.

Right, needs to be the absolute last resort, like with AD.
