According to the Catholic religion, Sunday is a day of rest.
Who said you need to go to one of 17 constructed buildings in a 5 mile radius, give them your money, twice, in an hour, eat a stale cracker and go home, to make it to heaven?

You've never read the 6th chapter of John have you?

Sounds like one of those churches that require you to wear bedazzled jeans and spike your hair

Be sure to be humble and practice humility in your extraordinarily gaudy place of worship. Religion is fine. Churches ruined it.

everything during mass is strictly from the Bible.

Uhh, what?

What part of the Mass is not from the Bible?

The whole ritual is out of Leviticus mixed with what happened at the Last Supper. There are a few things that are added for show (like the bells at Consecration but that’s to remind the congregation that the Holy Spirit is there for transubstantiation) but the ritual itself is Biblical.

Lol mass is a ritual to prep yourself to receive communion and the blessing of Christ.

Go to a baptist church if you want cookies and a progressive gospel rock show.

True. If you want rock music with no emphasis on the Gospel then go to a baptist church.

So, you are looking to be entertained in Church? That isn't Christ's job. You "getting something out of His sacrifice" for you isn't the point. If you don't "get something out of it" that sounds like a you problem.

Christ was a man & God, who was tortured beyond what we could imagine (Romans were super creative). They hung them on crosses to suffocate them, then broke their legs, so they couldn't get breath. Jesus never reached this stage, so they lanced Him in the side.

The story is an interesting read on the politics of the day.

Romans didn't really care, Jewish Elite were super scared of Jesus.

Enjoy your service, and look inward.

My wife knew some kids that were in it. They send them off to work at some fake non accredited college campuses. Sounded like scientology type situation. She says it's a cult.

Know thyself by leaving thyself

If you only see the world from the only perspective you have ever known (especially religion that is taught at your most vulnerable and impressionistic age), what you see as normal…oh my. This goes for all people and religions. Assume yours is end all be all, and find an eternity of oops.

Step out and look back. Give it a try.

My there are some great Christian and Catholic responses in this thread. I especially like the one about "either go every week or don't go at all".

You're boring. One goes to Mass to render unto the Lord , not "to get something out of it"

They don’t call it “Church of Cha-Ching” for nothing.

I’ve heard Pastor Steve speak at an event and he gave me creepy Joel Osteen vibes.

There are also a few fun stories about he and his family. There’s one where his wife accidentally killed an off-duty NOPD cop on a motorcycle while she was turning into her driveway. I don’t think she was ticketed that night. The other is when Pastor Steve and his family had the St Tammany Parish SO provide him with a full-on police escort from Covington to the LSU/Bama game a few years ago. You know, just like Jesus did.

So let's say there's two different guys.

Guy #1 has never been in a church. His parents weren't religious. He's a good guy, has a stable career, good husband and father. Donates a portion of his salary to St Jude's. Hasn't prayed a day in his life

Guy #2 has been married four times. Cheated on every wife. Neglects his children, drinks beer every night but he's the first one in church and the last one out. Prays to God for his forgiveness every night.

So according to these religious folk, guy #2 will be getting into heaven before guy #1.

Eat one and go to your local mega church. 2 drummers, bass, organ, a strat, a dude with an acoustic and 27 chicks singing backup.

If this is true, then where did Constantine find the Christians after his post-dream battle victory? HINT:they were a gathering of people worshiping Christ, ie a CHURCH.

Just be a good person and treat your fellow man right. There's no checklist to get into heaven imo
