I just saw a high school baseball coach pitch their number 1 pitcher 3 straight games and he threw over 200 pitches total over 5 days. 60 on Thursday, 55 on Saturday and then 98 on Monday. I think that is too much for baseball. Just wanted to get yalls thoughts.

Don't the state athletic association's monitor pitch counts?

Holy smokes.... so basically, on 1 day's rest each time?

That's way, way too much. A college coach wouldn't do that. An MLB manager wouldn't do that.

60 pitches should have gotten him 2-3 days rest.

98.... dude better not pitch again for at least 5 days, maybe 6.

If coach was going to use him on 1 day's rest, 2 innings or 35-40 pitches should have been his limit.

Should be fired and parents should be irate.

I have a hard time believing a HS coach would do that. But yeah way too much.

The kid or his parents didn’t do anything?

Way too much.
My kid threw 101 last year and they shut him down for a week. No tossing, anything.
Besides, he hurt from head to toe. They had a game the next next night and wouldn’t even let him take his gear. He held a clipboard.

A general rule of thumb is 1 hour rest for every pitch. 48 pitches 2 days. However, different pitchers have different time frames, a soft tossing lefty can probably go on less rest while a high effort pitcher might need more.

Is this potentially a college baseball player? Or is it a senior, that will be finished with baseball, after his next loss? That's kind of important to know here.

A coach in Panama City reported himself to the FHSAA and was originally suspended for a year but it was reduced to 13 games

The bigger problem is year round travel ball. That takes a much bigger toll on their arms than what you posted; which is pretty shitty to do, also.

But that year round shite goes on year after year after year after year and then people wonder why guys have arm issues in college.

Here in Georgia the pitch count for Varsity is 110 and sub-varsity is 90. If the pitch count is reached during an AB the pitcher can finish that batter then he has to come out. They then have to have minimum 3 days rest.

Didn’t Oregon State blow up a kid like that in the CWS?

A lot of meal ticket parents, especially moms, didn't play sports themselves and are just excited when their kid get more playing time.

Louisiana has pitch counts
I believe it’s so many pitches in a week
And when playoffs arrive they have restrictions as well
