I used to like Pasta Garden just off Sherwood too.
There was some awesome pasta dish with shrimp and angel hair/vegetables, that I loved. Kinda spicy, it was great. Just as good was the pasta salad, with ranch. I never minded eating alone.

POETS
I never knew BR had a Poets. I only knew of the famous Poets in Lafayette on Pinhook.

I’d do some bad stuff to travel in time and raise the flag at Panchos with my extended family one more time

No Egg Roll King on Sherwood, no care.
Same for Crowe Peele Texaco, The Cotton Club, the Ascot Club or The Village.
And the Camelot Club.
Guess I’m just a Clubber

What was the big store behind Egg Roll King, Jumbo Sports?

We would drive in from Patterson to go to concerts in the 80's and pig out at Pancho's. Great times!

Big Head Smiths place, the Hawks Nest.

That store was originally another sporting goods store before Jumbo. I think it was Sports Authority IIRC

LSU Student Union bowling, barber, and watching cult classics on the top floor of the Union theatre. Still can't believe I never watched movies like Dazed and Confused back in the day with the Union would advertise in The Reveille.

Add Blockbuster at corner of Sherwood and Old Hammond to the list!

Sadly that section of Sherwood looks like a Walking Dead episode now

The early 2000s Poets in BR was owned by Shannon Wilkerson as well. The BR location wasn’t open long at all. The rent for that corner was ridiculous and the building owner would rather it sit empty for years than to renegotiate. Plus the setup for that building was not ideal for the amount of people that came in there. We also always had serious plumbing problems - the back area by the bathrooms would always flood.

It’s little Honduras now in that area. I love the Ideal store on the corner.

Magnolia Cafe’ and Happy Note have to be at the top of the list.

I still think about La Fonda’s every now and then.
