I didn't personally lose it but my brother did. I bought him a Curado with an 7 1/2ft All Star rod for his birthday years ago. Went out to Breton Island for 3 nights and stayed on the hotel barge that used to be out there before one of the hurricanes. Got out about 1pm and went to fish some rigs before coming back to hit the island in late afternoon.

Fishing some rigs about 8 miles south of Breton and my brother kept laying his fishing rod down. Told him twice to put it in a rod holder but he kept sitting it down.

A few minutes later something came flying by head and I looked up just in time to see the back end of his All Star hit the water about 15 ft from the boat. I looked back at him and he was just frozen. Told him that's why I said not to leave a rod laying around.

About a $400 setup with less than 2 hours of fishing time on it... kerplunk.

I lost my X-wife out of the boat, she kept standing up next to center console by the throttle. We hit a wave, she grab the kill cord attached to me. The boat went to quick stop and she went overboard. ??

It was a very expensive divorce. ??

Pair of oakleys.

I lost a rod early on in my kayak. Had a tether, forgot to attach. My paddle was stowed and I picked it up and heard a plop. Turned to see my rod tip going under. I was only in about 5’ of water, so I stabbed my paddle in the mud. Fished around until I thought I found it then started dunking my grapple anchor in the water. After about 20 mins, felt it grab and pulled up the rod. I had about $200 in that rod, I was about to go in after it. Muddy bottom and lord knows what else. Glad I didn’t have to.

Trolling motor and fishing pole when the wires caught the pole and pulled it overboard. I thought I was sly having a bracket on the front on my flat boat to put a transom mounted trolling motor at the bow. The hand tightened screws just rattled loose and down she went at like 15 or 20 mph.

Almost lost the bottom half of my 36V Terrova last week when it self deployed at 50mph. My fault as I didn't have the clamp on. Just the wire was holding it together. Luckily it will be fixed under warranty.

Not mine or my boat but a buddy and I fishing a Sunday tournament in Lake Lanier north of Atlanta and crossed a house boat wake on a plane and his trolling motor self deployed and made a mess of the surrounding area. This was a Hydrasport 17 footer back in the days when a 150 was a BIG outboard. Lake Lanier on a Sunday in June is no place to be in a bass boat LOL...

75 pairs of sunglasses

Once when fishing too many people and too many beers in a small center console, I hooked a rod that was sitting in the console rod holders and casted that bitch like 25 yards. Was a sight to see that fricker flying through the air. Luckily, I had a quick retrieve and the rod came back to us. I got a lot of shite that day.

iphone. it was in my top shirt pocket. leaned over to release a sailfish. I noticed there was a problem when the music was no longer connected. sucks. i was in guatemala and had to travel home with no phone.

then the airport would not take my printed covid test-they wanted to see it on my phone. so i had to take another covid test at the airport and almost missed my flight. that would have been fun with no phone
