Missed all of the White Sox series outside of checking box scores when I had some cell service. I'm back and ready for some baseball. Things I've gathered...
Bregman died. RIP
Pressly choked on a bag of dicks and has been unavailable
FODB has adopted Jake Meyers
K-fest 2023
Anything else I should know?

I enjoy baseball.*
*my enjoyment wanes a bit when I see Dubon in the lineup. It wanes a bit more, each day that I see that Dusty Baker, has yet to off with his fricking.

Joe Kelly got a proper heckling from the crowd and took the loss Saturday. Best part of the series.

Sox fan letting you know that Alvarez and Tucker are very scary and I’m glad we only have to see them one more time this year.

Diaz looks like sh*t. Hopefully he improves.
I’m impressed with Hensley and Julks.
What is up with Pressly? Is there an injury of some sort? I know he blew the save on Thursday, but get him back out there so he can redeem himself.
Dubon is a great defensive player, totally bailed out Abreu on Thursday.
I miss Aledmys, if only for his regular season abilities.
None of our starters have given up more than three runs, so that’s good.
All of our starters are very young. I wish we had an Odorizzi type guy to bring in some veteran leadership. Framber is going to have to be that guy, and I think he can be.
I do miss Yuli. He was awesome in the 2022 postseason and he loves being a member of this franchise. I feel like we could have brought him back.
What was up with Dusty not starting Chas on Opening Day or the day after? He’s a Top 10 MLB CF and was a key part to our title run. That was an absolute head scratcher but he played well on Sat and Sun so hopefully Dusty is convinced.
Go Stros.

Astros were a skeleton team yesterday, more so than necessary.
Altuve out by itself can be overcome this early, but it's compounded by Yed resting when he actually played very little Spring.
Two thirds of the Bromine Gang are out. Brantley is looking like he will be back, maybe sooner than our normal pessimistic expectations. Bregman is out with a case of Crawford's Disease. Breu is showing Bregman what a QAB should look like, but Bregs is stuck in contract mode.
Watching Breu go with pitches is literally like watching Brantley from the right side. Speaking of that, Hensley is showing signs of being able to stick. Good eye at the plate and will let the ball travel well enough to stay in on the offspeed stuff.
Meyers has never recovered from his injury and the odds that he sticks this year are diminishing. Julks is going to get some more ABs, and I would hate to make any definitive statement on him based off of facing some pretty damn good pitching.
Chas will be your CF. His long term success is going to be a matter of being able to get around on the inside part of the zone versus RH pitching. He likes to let the ball travel.
That's just some very initial observations from one series. The White Sox are a good team.

Framber is probably the leader as far as being the most vocal guy on the starting staff. However, he doesn’t appear to have the type of leadership that would allow him to effectively get on the other guys’ asses when they aren’t doing things the right way. That’s what losing a veteran guy like Verlander does to your clubhouse.

Bregman is getting eaten alive by sliders, which is surprising because he has historically feasted on them.
baseballsavant
He has struck out on 4 sliders and whiffed 50% of them. Hasn't put a single slider in play.
And I don't have any stats to back it up, but he has appeared late on a number of fastballs. He looks like he is overloading and its created a longer loop in his swing.

Bregman mentioned during the mic’d up game that he’s working on some kind of scissor action similar to trout and another player. Im not enough of a swing aficionado to know what he’s talking about…but interring that he seems a bit slow with the bat and clearly not squaring much up…I don’t think he hit a single homer in spring training..whatever he’s been doing it’s not working.

That happens when you try to pull outside pitches
He put that swing on a hanging slider that was middle-inside yesterday and hit one out 80 feet to the left of the foul pole.
So, like someone said yesterday, his timing is off, but not because he can't time pitches, it's because he is trying to force the ball to LF. He has a Rizzo approach, but is standing normal distance from the plate.
Bregman knows how to hit the ball. I would never question his contact skills. He wants power, and he only has it to LF/pull side. He's not trying to win every game right now. He's trying to rack up numbers for negotiations. He can hit through the ball and go with any pitch when he wants.

Just watched the highlights from yesterdays game and bregman was so fricking far out in front of the sliders he K'd on
He isnt seeing the ball at all right now

ALL pull swings
He has no intention of going to the opposite field
He only has gap power to anywhere but LF, and I'm sure it's driving him crazy
Another reason why Crews is gonna be so good. When listening to Bregman talk about Crews, you can see both chips on each shoulder
In short, I'm not really worried about Bregman. He will do what it takes when the time comes. But right now with so many guys out of the playoff lineup, I sure would like to see him give the team ABs and not work on his individual goals

White Sox threw some quality arms out there in the series. Said this yesterday, but I’ll say it again: They may be improved by the mere absence of Tony LaRussa because the game passed him by. They’ve got talent and if they stay healthy, they’ll probably push Cleveland.

LaRussa made Dusty Baker look good.

At least he's 8th and not top 3rd of the lineup.

Haven't watched them much besides Thursday's game, but how has Julks looked?
