Totally Lost

I played the Golfweek Am Tour for 12 years. Won 10 times. I had a 12 year, tournament play handicap of under 8. I said all that to say this…For the past 6 months, I’ve totally lost my swing. More rounds that not in the 90’s and today a 103. 6 months ago I wouldn’t have thought that even remotely possible. Chipping and putting are fine. Full swings often go on a 45 degree angle to the right(I’m right handed). Any advice on what to do from here. Ready to hang it up to be honest. Not fun being so frustrated. I could stay home and be frustrated.

Go get a lesson and just take a deep breathe. Golf is hard and we all go thru ups and downs. I recommend Paxton at Pelican Point. But anyone that is a solid teacher will get you back. And just have a short memory. Plus have fun. Even when you hit it bad.

Are they shanks or is the face open? Check your grip

As someone who fought the shanks, your right elbow is flying out. Tuck that damn thing!

No shanks. Face wide open. I know it, but can’t fix it.

I would bet you’re getting “stuck behind the ball.”
Get that weight forward. Hit it left of left. Then, work on bringing it back to the middle. I went through that crap for a bit.

Had this issue once. Took a couple months off after my kid was born. Came back and went from a slight baby draw to a baby fade. Couldn't figure out why. Within a couple months, it was a big fade to a small slice. At the 6 month mark I was playing a 30 yard slice on almost every shot. Nothing I did would stop it. I could try and hit a draw and it would be a big fade instead of a slice. Fought it for another couple months, including through some embarrassing tournament rounds.
Finally I stopped trying to fix it on my own and went to take a lesson. After 10 balls on the range with the instructor, I was back to my normal shot. Was crazy how fast of a fix it was for the instructor to point out.

How does one get a in-person lesson?

When that happens to me, it is usually because my weight gets out over my toes.
So I try to feel like I’m lifting my toes up in my shoes to keep the weight back.
Taking a lesson from a pro is always a good idea when we struggle.
You are probably just doing one thing wrong.
He or she can watch you swing, and help you get it fixed.

Call Burky, speaking from experience.
One lesson and I went from a nasty slice to a draw, and hitting further because of it.

Doesn't seem like a good business model to fix everything on one lesson

Get drunk before you play.
You sound like you're mindfricked.
Caring less is the answer.

dont take full swings. Half swings, basically like punch shots, until you can figure out how to keep the clubhead square. Progressively take fuller and fuller swings
