Disney MAY have outmaneuvered Desantis

The former board quietly passed a resolution that gave Disney the majority of power over their district, neutering the new board’s power. Seems their move passes legal muster to me because it was voted on in a public meeting and there was public announcement on the vote. It was voted on the day before the FL legislature voted on the bill dissolving the Disney district. I’m not a lawyer though.

I’ve only been passively following this story but I respect legal maneuvering like this. Of course, Florida taxpayers will have to foot more legal bills for Frsantis to fight this.

Oops. Replace the first “have” with may.

this board turning on desantis is one of the most predictable and least shocking developments

Yeah you sound totally impartial here. How about your filthy disgusting prog freaks simply stop trying to sexualize kids? Would that be too complicated? I’ll pay tax money to fight y’all.

He was basically the best champion of personal autonomy and liberty we had during COVID and he should always be commended for this
Conservatives who disagree with this sentiment form a subset I truly do not understand.

What DeSantis did has no teeth. It was all for show.

I was never with him to turn on him. Nov 2024 is a long way off.

I don't think that's how this board feels about the border stops they were subjected to, and it certainly isn't how i feel about housing non paying tenants. Bars we closed by governor executive order for my 40th bday. We weren't as free as you remember.

Trump took many fringe Republicans and turned them into a 1960 Democrat.
Populism doesnt care about ideology. Its just anti elite. The past 6 year turned many Republicans against free markets and capitalism.

I've been reading up on RCID years before the politics came into play because I found it fascinating from a development perspective.
Am I reading it correctly in that all they really did was transfer the power of the entity to the majority property owners, who have been Disney the whole time?
Streamlining planning and zoning always seemed to be the primary reason for RCID, even though they could issue municipal debt as well.
Seems like they're just transferring what they already had to themselves in another name or shape.
I'm sure Disney had this move locked and loaded for decades after RCID was created. And I'm sure that the legislature can find a way to address it.
More to come.
