The Myth of Christian parents rejecting their gay/trans Kids.

They are framing the shooters parents of having rejected her. Anytime I watch some reality show there is a sob story about how Christian parents disowned their gay/trans kid. This framing does not jive with the reality I have seen. I actually can't think of a single instance where a Christian parent sought to write their kids out of their lives. I had a deeply conservative Bible professor with a gay son. His son and his "partner" would come and visit his dad and sleep in separate rooms while they were there to simply honor his dad's beliefs. Seems to me that most of the time the child chooses to reject their parents because their parents don't outright accept their lifestyle with zero stipulations. I just find it a terrible framing of what goes down to say "my christian parents disowned me". Usually the parents are willing to negotiate to have their kid around, it is he kid who refuses to make concessions.
