Pretty much decided on a Browning X-Bolt Speed SR. It will be suppressed and used for hunting mainly in Ms (box stand, ladders, etc). Help me pick from 308, 6.5PRC, and 6.8 Western. Thanks

30.06 springfield.

Hathcock took out a Nth Vietnamese general at 700 yards with one. Wide variety of different ammo. Every country stop-n-rob store likely has it on the shelf .

For that, go with 308. Ammo readily available any store any time. 6.5 prc may be around in ten yrs because of the prs crowd but I would bet 6.8 won’t be here in 5-7yrs if I was betting.

I’d go .308 and with the shortest barrel possible.

.308 most wide variety of ammo in the world and proven to be one of the most effective cartridges out there.

Very curious why suppressed? See a lot of that these days and make no sense at all. And as a trained expert level marksman/range master/and long range contest aficionado it leaves me baffled now days to see so many people doing it. With supersonic ammo under normal hunting conditions There are just not many suppressors available to the public that does much good at all if ANY! and if they did you would have to have a computer and high degree measurement tools to find it. Not really a practical application.

That's an idiotic comment... Don't listen to this guy in regards to silencers.

.308 with a 18" barrel

Of course not, but shooting with a silencer is a whole hell of a lot quieter that shooting unsuppressed.

My 16 yr old son has never shot a rifle that wasn't suppressed save for a .22 when he was little.
Shooting suppressed will will damage your ears but it sure as hell takes a lot more shooting to do it.

Just tell us you've never shot a gun with a silencer.

This is so stupid. Plenty of silencers exist that will be hearing safe on supersonic .308.

So dumb. There is absolutely a point. Many silencers are out there that are hearing safe on supersonic ammp.

I have never run supersonic ammo through a suppressed weapon. You got me.

They don’t leave my ears ringing after a 3-shot string. Mission accomplished.

Wth cares about “whisper quiet?”

I would just invest in some quality hearing protection.
