Most people don’t understand what home owners insurance is for. I think most think it’s like a warranty program. 20 year old roof starts to leak and insurance should pay for it. Slow leak rots floors insurance should pay for it. That’s not how it works.

Why are you assuming that?

Any idea why this bothers you so much?

But go up North somewhere.

The real deals are in North Dakota and Michigan.

I’m shopping ours now. It’s going up almost $300/mo.

Louisiana is a direct action state, meaning the insurer can be sued directly and bypassing the insured. It hurts us who are legitimate and don’t go around suing everyone. We need reform.

Oddly enough the current Insurance commissioner just dropped out of the race for the first time in 100 years. Nothing left for him to milk.

Mine increased as much, too. And high contents coverage I don’t need with no option to customize. We are screwed.

Property taxes are extremely low in LA.
bullshite. Especially on commercial property. Look on the LTC and calculate the tax on one Haynesville well.

Is it just high in hurricane flood zones? Like do people in Shreveport have higher premiums because they're in LA?

No Problem.
Legislation to ban special interests lobbying, campaign contributions, lunch and dinner at Ruth's along with free LSU tickets.

When did Cajun leave? I got a landlord quote from them 2 weeks ago. Granted, it was about the same at Citizens.

Cajun may have put a hold on new policy issuance due to a massive backlog of new clients.
Situation is out of control and the current incentives along are not going to lead to a full resolution.

UPC is in receivership. I live in Texas and my outstanding claim just got passed to the Florida Dept of Insurance. All business ceases the 28th. Moving over to State Farm.

This is way worse of a problem with homeowners insurance than suing. Louisiana residents, for some reason, have this massive mindset of “I pay for insurance, I should claim this $5,000 claim” but get all bent out of shape when their rate goes up or they get cancelled at the next renewal. Homeowners insurance is not meant to be a home maintenance program. Use it for major losses instead.

The vast majority of South LA has had their roof / gutters / siding replaced in the last three years, due to claims.

We had a chance to get rid of Jim “nap time” Donelon but we’re not smart enough to get out of our own way.
