As part of a corporate restructuring, parent Disney is slashing 7,000 jobs and $5.5 billion in costs. The layoffs could amount to 3% of Disney’s global workforce.
quote:

Stephen A. Smith alluded to the network’s precarious situation on his “K[no]w Mercy” podcast. “Have you all been paying attention to the business landscape? Disney itself announced that over 7,000 employees are going to be let go,” Smith said. “ESPN is under the Disney umbrella. They’re going to have cuts coming. “Hell, for all I know, I might be one of them. Now, I doubt that. But it’s possible. No one knows.”
quote:

ESPN’s footprint has been reduced to less than 75 million U.S. homes from 100 million in 2011, and the network has suffered several layoffs over the last decade.
quote:

“I don’t think it will be as bad as 2017. But it might be bad,” said one source.
Shocker of the century. I do wonder which CFB personalities they will get rid of.

I would say I'd be pulling for Rinaldi to get the axe, but thankfully that Debbie Downer took his "let's ruin college football Saturday mornings for everyone" schtick to another network.

Probably in bad taste that ESPN's highest-paid employee is the one saying this.

People tune in to ESPN for sports. Not for political commentary, not for news on Transgender athletes, not to hear how racist the U.S. is.

Some ignore it and some change the fricking channel. ESPN = slow learner.

There’s a real lack of creativity that’s killing ESPN right now. First Take is hot takes. Get Up is hot takes. Around the Horn, PTI, it’s all the same.

They have a show that’s just called Keyshawn, JWill and Max. If you’re a casual sports fan looking for something to watch why the hell would you ever click on that? Who the frick are they?

Stuff like this makes me wonder about rising TV rights for conferences, NBA and NFL.

Edit, NFL is probably okay, it is king for sure.

If Kendrick Perkins survives this round then ESPN deserves to be publicly shamed
